I was just wondering why the N64 Ocarina of Time thread was locked. I don't see any post from a moderator explaining why it was locked. I haven't participated at all in the thread, nor read many of the posts, so I don't know whether or not the discussion became uncivil.

Because it turned from a thread about Ocarina of Time into a thread that wasn't about Ocarina of Time.

There was no reason to lock other than for the Mods own amusement at pissing every OoTer off.

I already have a "'Why was the Ocarina of Time thread locked?' locked?" thread prepared, in case anyone was wondering.

Are you planning to TAS the forums?

For a moment I read that as "the discussion became evil".

I personally would have simply split the offending posts off into a separate topic. Bit unfortunate to have a published run with locked topic under the "discuss this run" link.

Some SM64 fanboy moderator was just pissed that the OoT thread is now the most popular thread of the whole TASvideos forum. That's the way it is ;)

The run submission thread is still open, it's the discussion thread in the N64 games subforum that got locked.

ye, if popular means that the same 4 people wouldn't stop wasting time by repeating their opinions in different ways over 10 pages

And that is somehow worse than a 20 page flame war over a 1 frame improvement?

Absolutely not. I'm just saying popularity shouldn't be determined by a select amount of people arguing (although I think Grunz was joking to an extent).

We should argue about this for 310 pages and make this the most popular thread on the forum.

Hay guise! Yesterday I made rice pudding for the first time ever. I followed this recipe mostly, but found that I was missing one of the ingredients: evaporated milk. So I used buttermilk instead. Apparently buttermilk is not a good substitute for evaporated milk, because it didn't turn out that good :[ What things have you cooked recently?

I should probably stop posting anything on the internet. No matter what I post, people always find a way to make me look rude, sonikkustar even managed to call me a racist, because I was against publishing abeshi's OoT TAS, although I stated it was solely because of the technical level of it (long before the thing about abeshi's MM TAS). Like sonicpacker and kuwaga said already, it was just a silly joke. I simply realized that OoT surpasses SM64 now at least when it comes to the number of posts. Oh well, back to the topic: The thread should be opened again. It has been locked for 2 days, I'm pretty sure everybody has realized now, that it is time to end the discussion at this point. I want to keep discussing routes, especially the new "All Temples" route, which will quite a lot different due to all the new warps. We still don't know if the crash while Wrong Warping can be avoided on Mupen, though.

It'd be good to discuss the VC emulation issue whether it's valid to emulate an official emulator as opposed to an actual console and accept runs on it in a different thread though. If the OoT topic doesn't get split, somebody should definitely create a seperate thread for it.

I thought of something similar with an initial post that at least summarizes why the topic is even worth discussing, but this one might do as well. I have recently cooked chicken spiced with curcuma, chili, lovage, marjoram and a grain of salt. Tasted better than expected.
