The trick of going in the pipe to get to the warp zone only works if you first do the trick where you grab the vine and warp to the other side of the screen. I think this would waste more time than it would save. How can you check how many frames faster something is? Do you have to have a copy of each run, then stop the movie at the exact same frame? I make sure I remember exactly when I stopped recording. Then I make a copy of the previous version, and start playing the copy. Then when I get very close to the point where I stopped recording, I switch from playing to recording, and stop recording at the exact moment that I stopped the current recording, and then I compare the frame count in the 2 movies. Edit: Are you using the 60 FPS Famtasia patch? I think what I'll do from now on is use the normal version for most of the movie, but if I get to a part that's impossible (for example sometimes lip jumps are impossible because Famtasia doesn't let you jump at the right time), then I'll switch to the patched version just for that part.

I finished 4-2, and the new video is now a total of 48 frames faster than the previous version! I also still have ideas for how to save time in a few other levels, especially 8-4. I'm starting to wonder if 5:06 is possible. Edit: I just thought of a way to save approximately 1 more frame in 1-1. However, I may be picky, but not that picky, so I'm not going to redo the whole thing (though maybe I would for 3 frames).

Some Japanese fellow was faster. I received today his SMB1 timeattack, which is 19 frames faster than your previous released version. Judging from your previous post, it'll be a temporary release only. It's being encoded now.

What's the point of encoding a video that will only be on the page for 1 day? I'll probably finish it today, and it will most likely be over a second faster than the previous version.

over a second faster By the way, in case you were wondering, that's a full second. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it's over 100 frames faster.

when is the fmv ready? I'll try to finish it today, so the fmv should be ready later tonight. I'm just before the end of 8-3 now, trying to figure out a way to slow down to avoid the fireworks but still make it look cool. Edit: I wonder if I could do a walljump on the stack of 2 blocks near the end. I think I'm gonna try that. That's the only way I can think of to make it look cool, but if someone has another idea, let me know.

Your previous run was 18477 frames long which is 307 seconds and 57 frames. I don't know why famtasia rounded your time to 308 seconds, because I rechecked today how famtasia does the roundoffing and it seems that it always rounds it down(your previous SMB1 run is the only exception I've seen) The run of japanese fellow is 19 frames faster than yours so it is 307 seconds and 38 frames and it is rounded off to 307 seconds so if you are 84 frames faster than your previous run you can make it 306 easily. You need 120 frames for 305 seconds (5:05). It is not good that famtasia always rounds the times down because for example Twin Galaxies rounds the time to the nearest whole seconds so there is a little difference between our roundoffing methods.

I finished my new Super Mario Bros. speed run, and it's a total of 123 frames faster than the previous version, and the video length is 5:06! I just want to watch the whole thing now, and later I'll send it to Bisqwit.

Yes it looked nice. In the avi: The 240 height is sort of odd looking. The video ended at 5:08.

I know how you feel, I had to think about alot of ways to look cool in my bubble bobble run, cause it consists of so much waiting. But this one looks pretty good, some trickjumping is never wrong. oh, and, nice movie too :D

I just watched my new SMB video again, and I noticed that I forgot to hit the coin block at the end of 8-3. Should I fix this and re-submit it to Bisqit or should I just leave it the way it is?

Either way the video looks impressive; i don't think redoing world 8 for a coin block and turtle is worth it. You might find a way to improve your time in the future and have to redo the run anyway. :P
