I thought that this game would be boring to watch, but I did the mode where you race against all those other computers. I ended up with a time of about 55 seconds for level 1. At twin galaxies, the record for level 1 with no computers was 5 minutes. However, that may be a typo and they really meant 50 seconds. Any time that you can get in selection a(no computers) can be matched in selection b (computers), so this has me worried. Does anyone know what is up with this? Edit: Made a topic about on TG, see if they know whats going on.

Excitebike is a fun game to play, but it's quite easy to play it nearly perfectly by regular means. Even if a timeattack would shave 1-5 seconds from the world record, I don't think it would be very impressive to watch - unless you manage to do some incredible stunts .

Yeah, but I guess I'll make it anyway, even if you don't accept it, just so that I can say that I have. The only thing that (partially) saves my movie from being completely boring is the fact that I go and make other bikes crash and things like that :p

Okay, be sure to end up upsidedown to the goal or something like that :) No, really I want to see the result when you're ready :)

I beat it once. Here are my times: 0:55:10 0:58:65 0:54:38 1:01:60 1:05:92 0:58:62 Total game time: 7:42 I'm going to redo it though. I watched it and some of the jumps are done really bad, especially in level 6. Im sure that I beat TG's record for 3 and 4. Not sure about the others. 1 and 2 seem to messed up on TG, saying something like 5 minutes, and level 5 is five seconds faster than mine, according to them. Anyway, in the last level, I can make the game time maybe half a second faster at the end, but make the total game time longer. Which should I do? Currently, it has a cool ending where i burnout and trip over a barrior at the same time then flip all the way to the finish line. Thus, it takes a bit longer to get to the finish line, but the I can stop the movie sooner and it looks cooler.

Hello, I have many of the original Nintendo Power magazines. Within these there is the 'NES Achievers' section, which has verified game scores by players. Here are the top times listed for Excitebike (from issues 1-7): Track 1: 50:05 Track 2: 51:64 Track 3: 52:81 Track 4: 59:87 Track 5: 53:39

I must be missing something. I've redone level 1 5 times, and I can get at most 1 second faster. Theres no way that I can do 5 seconds faster. Theres probably just some trick that I don't know about. Edit: Unless I come up with something soon, I think I will just stop. I've done track 1 so many times, and the best i could do is 54:03. I don't think that it matters if I race against other people or not. I'll go check though. Edit: No difference. Edit: Ugh. There is nothing wrong with my movie. They must have cheated :p I give up. Its impossible to get under 54 seconds! Grr.

My best time for the track1 is 47.92 now. I'll try to improve it by 2 seconds when I have time. If I can make it under 47s, I'll consider making a time attack for Excitebike.

What was I missing? You pull back before jumps, lean forward in the air, press the turbo button while on the ground, nothing in the air, hit every pad thing, what else?

I guess you haven't played this very much. I haven't seen how you made your 54.xx so I can't tell you what went wrong. I haven't made any .fmv s yet but I'll share one if I am up to make one. You pull back before jumps, lean forward in the air, press the turbo button while on the ground, nothing in the air, hit every pad thing, what else? a) I don't pull back before jumps. b) I lean forward in the air all the time and let off B c) I land on the first wheel and lean backwards a little bit the same time and press B d) I don't hit every pad thing

The leaning pack part does not matter I think. The only thing that I was not doing is landing on one wheel. Let me see how that works. Edit: Look at this: www.geocities.com/highsummonerbob/excitebike.zip Copy it into your adress bar, don't click on it. I put this together in five minutes using your method, but I still get a bad time. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Use Post Reply, because I can't see if you have posted something new if you use edit post. I watched the .fmv and I have to say that I use the selection A where there is no opponents so it can be a little difference because I usually ride my bike as straightforward as possible and you try to kill your opponents. a)Your landing isn't smooth. b)You hit every pad thing. c)Try not to slow down your bike anywhere. I was about to improve my best time. I had 24:81 after the first lap and I was able to use B (high speed) all the way to the first speed pad but I missed 1 jump and saved it in the wrong place and it was ruined because I didn't record so I couldn't continue it. In my best time 47:92 I had time 25:22 after the first lap and I couldn't use B all the way to the first pad thing, so I was about to improve my time by 1 sec or more.

This does not matter. I get the same time for both

a. How so? I press back right before I land. Is there something else im supposed to do? b. These don't slow me down, to they? c. I mess up at the jumps at the end, but that that doesn't slow me down 6 seconds.

a) The landing is a little tricky. When you land the first time your bike jumps a little bit. So you have to _land_ again. There you made a mistake. Your second landing was on the both wheels and that isn't smooth at all. Try to land both times on the first wheel. b) No they don't but if you try to take them you will be slowed down. For example the speed pad after the first BIG jump pad. I usually don't hit it. c) Your end slows you down a lot. I am a lot of faster in the end. I said in the earlier post that I can use B the whole way to the first speed pad after the first lap. Do you know why? - Because I drive much faster than you in the end and in the beginning of the level. Oh sorry, I don't use IRC. Its not like he needs to look at it immediatly though If I didn't use IRC, I couldn't see when you have edited your post, could I? I was lucky to read it at all. Why don't you use IRC?

42.43 is my current best time for the 1st track. Somebody told me that the Japanese have tried to do a time attack for the first track and they got 46.3x I have a few ideas how to improve my time

???? i always thought you MUST land on both wheels always, or else you lose speed, has the world turned up side down? :)

yes, i just tested it and if you make the bike do a second little jump that jump is at a slower speed, so you MUST land on both wheels. same goes for ramps, you must land on both wheels on ramps
