takes damage to save time; abuses luck
Double Dragon II is a classic fighting game with an all-powerful move, the dreaded flying knee. When going for time you must use the knee frequently, but this movie uses other moves whenever possible to make it more entertaining.
I'm pretty happy with this movie, and I hope people who objected to the previous version will enjoy this one. Updates since the previous movie:
- 31 seconds faster
- uses alternative to the knee whenever possible
- only takes damage if it really does save time (except for at the very end)
- more precise movements
- attempts to be more entertaining with wait-time
Finally, a few explanations:
1. In level 4, right before the elevator, I intentionally get hit back by the first Linda. If I advanced the screen any more then they third would have appeared on the left side, and going across and back would cost more time than what I actually did.
2. The knee and upper-cut can only be performed after landing from a jump or after getting up from the ground. That's why I constantly jump into the spikes in the second half of level 4.
3. On level 7, I get hit a few times on the vanishing block parts, such as when I jump into the fire. I played with other possibilities though, and that really was the fastest way I could come up with.
4. Towards the end of level 8 and in the final boss I just knee on the right side of the screen. I realize this is a little boring, but it's by far the fastest way to get the job done.
5. Getting hit at the same time I administer the final blow was intentional. If people don't like it though I can take it out.

nice. you aim for speed, you get speed. granted, there were what seemed to be a few excessive uses of uppercuts in some instances, but that may have been something else, so i dont mind. everything you pointed out was ok... the level 7 fire hit looked planned, not like an accident. granted, level 4 felt somewhat sloppy, but i know what you mean about the damage and doing an uppercut/knee. as far as entertaining... im not sure. phil used 2 players. if this gets accepted, i wouldnt want his obsoleted as he uses 2 players and this one only uses one.

QBOB, you play through this game like an arrogant show-off. I love it! It's just as you said, you have sped things up and added much more variety. I found it very enjoyable, I think this deserves a place besides Phil's.

good movie, even at the times you use the knee exlucsively, i thought it was still a creative use of the move. in level 7, when you knew the guy into the dynomite explosion. that was awsome. one place that might be able to be faster (though i could be wrong) mission 2: couldnt you do a well placed jump-kick at the enemies that jump out of the helicopter? it timed right you could knock each set into the pit. enemies who fall off of the screen seem to die quicker than the one who blink.

Great update! Man you made that game look easy! You can beat the game pretty quick when you can kill almost everyone with one hit. The fact that your last movie was improvable by 31 seconds is exactly why so many people encouraged you to try again. Thanks for making this. By the way, I like it better than the 2-player run, no offense to fans of that movie (I'm not suggesting that this run should replace Phil's run). I don't enjoy 2-player runs very much, nor do I enjoy synchronized swimming or diving. When 2 players co-ordinate their attacks, it tends to look robotic and distractingly synchronized, which I find grows old very quickly. In spite of the skill it takes for one person to co-ordinate 2 players, it makes many games seem TOO easy (ironic, huh?). Anyway, I vote yes.

Since I am doing a 2nd version of my 2 player run, I have decided to watch this movie in case he had discovered some tricks but apparently not. It's not that it is not entertaining but I can see many errors. I agree that my published run isn't perfect as well, and it didn't aimed to be perfect, but there's some errors that I didn't do myself. Ex. The trap room where there's rotating wheel, it's not as fast as it is supposed to be. And those errors are not directly related about the moves you choose to kill enemies. Unless it wasn't aiming for pure speed? Anyway, if you don't see what or where are those errors, wait and see my future 2p run. Btw, Mr. hopper, the next version will not look robotic like you said. :P
