Child Segment is complete. An AVI might be released in a few days time, it's not possible to continue since a soft reset isn't available. I understand it exists on Linux but it needs to be ported to Windows. In the mean time I've released the cucco collecting part, which is roughly 7.5 seconds faster than my old MQ version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QTh8iTRdiw&feature=channel_page

Other way around. The record reset mupen makes Linux close the emulator; it's fine on windows.

He's talking about MupenPlus, the one which resets the ROM and not the emulator. Anyway, I'll encode all our progress so far and post an AVI within the next few days.

looks pretty good so far, good job! I want to give fishing pond early a last attemp. I have 2 ideas, but I have some doubt, that we'll get it to work, though. 1. here's a way to do a forwards backflip, what also means, that we're able to do a forwards mega flip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHnQsdkIS2E It's explained, how to do it ;) so if link can grab ledges after a backflip, we could maybe grab the pond ledge. some parts of the pond ledge are grabable, but I have some doubt, that it will work. link can't grab ledges while sidehopping, so why should he do while backflipping? 2. sideways mega flips seem to give you more distance. why not try to get up there with a sideways mega flip from a distance? I know, you've tryed it already, but I'm not sure, if you used a sideways one. in my opinion, it's worth trying it ;)

Over the past week or so I've made various attempts of trying to get up to the fishing pond without the scarecrow song... and I've gotten really close. I took a few screenshots showing how close I've been able to get, and I'm convinced it's possible, just that it needs to be very precise. Also, a sideways backflip doesn't go any further than a regular backflip, it just gives horizontal distance.

Will you show us the screenshots?

Yeah, here are 3: There are many many ways of balancing height/distance on the sloped surface you're on.. I just think it will be very difficult finding the exact spot/angle required to get up there. If it does turn out to be possible, it's going to be very hard to replicate, and even moreso optimize, in the TAS 0_0

God, I can only imagine.

When it comes to OoT, anything that seems nearly possible usually turns out to be possible. While TASing can uncover miraculous things, it can't necessarily turn straw into gold.

I'm sorry, this came across as lol-ironic since we're talking about making it up there without the scarecrow. Anyway, awesome work so far. I really hope a new TAS of this game comes out sometime this year.

I just eagerly look forward for when Mupen will come out and we will see the Kokiri Forest, Owl, Temple of Time, and Ganon's Castle skip all within one beautiful TAS. :)

Here it is... the moment you've all been waiting for... the first (and last) OoT any% RBA WIP! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3OWFKS6V Played by AKA, Bloobiebla and myself, the run has already gone through many revisions. At different times, only certain people were working on it, but collectively, we've all worked just as hard on it, so we decided that all our names should go on the final product. The reason we were "suboptimal" in Lake Hylia is because we have to wait until dawn for the drawbridge to be down so we can go to the Market. We talked to the owl on the optimal frame so that we landed outside the Market right at the crack of dawn, which skipped the bridge opening sequence. Enjoy. Comments and criticism appreciated. EDIT: Here's the YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXCJQlXmHn8&fmt=18

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Loved 2 facts in particular: 1. Almost no indoor temple stuff, pretty much entire child section on the field, makes the game look just as broken as it is :D 2: The forward side jumping on the lake hylia bridge xD

That was exceptional. Did you guys jump to the other side of the lake hylia bridge before speaking to the owl to time daybreak?

The trip from Kakariko to Lake Hylia was by far the best part. Of course, that's the part that wasn't possible until the last month or two. Well done.

That was really great. Talking about tas with quality... Btw, bloob, that's soooooo close, it should be possible (just achieving it though must be more difficult than getting an optimized DoT skip like in the run)

Question Couldn't you just simply use the bomb hover glitch to get to Ganondorf's Tower?

You need the Light Arrow to damage him, though.

Do you? I thought you could technically roll under his legs - as long as you can get to his tail and hit it, you can damage him enough to get the Master Sword. It was either that, or as long as you can actually hit him with anything that can reach his head (Hookshot, etc.), you can get close enough to land a hit. It'll only stun him for a split second, but it should work. If my source is true.

Damage Ganondorf, not Ganon.
