Could a TASer try this? I'm thinking ESS using my weirdslide trick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxoG8c7e_Qw It can be done without naryu's love, just do what you'd do with a regular mega flip, but tap the analog stick back instead of backflipping. You can sometimes slide really quickly forwards or backwards, or glitch into the ground. I'm thinking ESS off of the fast slide from the glitch to maybe get a hyper endless superslide without naryu's love. I'm also trying to find out what happens if you glitch into the ground and you leave the ground and start hovering while still glitched. I wish I could TAS things well. I'd do it myself. :\

tryed that already and you can't get the speed into the slide ;) the only thing, I was able to do, was to keep the speed for 2 seconds by smashing the Z button

But we REALLY need a new any%. I really hoped that it would continue this year but judging by the progress of mupen+ it won't happen before 2012, if ever. I'm not demanding, or anything, just saying that I'm somewhat disappointed...

I'm pretty sure if mupen+ became available then the run could be completed in a matter of weeks. I don't want to do a death warp because I don't want to implement minor improvements in the future with a reset being the biggest time saver. I'd rather do it right first time round. As was mentioned several pages ago, the soft reset is available on Linux but it has yet to be ported to Windows.

I'm sure that was also mentioned before, but why not just play the TAS on linux, then? And is it foreseeable when it's going to be ported to windows or could it really take until 2012?

Uhm, the main problem are the TASing capabilitys of mupen+. They are far from reaching the standards for this site. Also I think we should look into alternatives. Hell, just for DK64

The crooked cartridge glitch would be possible on an emulator, just not any current emulators because they don't have that feature. I don't see why it couldn't be added. Maybe doing it with a gameshark code would also be possible.

Yeah, using gameshark codes in a TAS. Damn good idea :D Also CC is something hardware related, and as far as I know these kind of glitches are not allowed on this site, because its not possible to emulate them the same way like a console would behave

I remember something resembling CC being possible in Project64 by loading a savestate from a different game, so it should be possible in Mupen too, but CC is not allowed on this site anyway.

Bisqwit made a ruling some time ago that anything resembling CC would not be allowed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7mr6mHKI4A&feature=channel_page new way to escape the forest. might be useful for a RBA TAS

I did a rough comparison and the old method still seems to be about 10-15 seconds faster assuming the deku stick is acquired in both cases. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. (I saw it in my youtube subscriptions before it was posted here and investigated, if anyone is disputing the timeliness of my post.) Definitely a neat trick though.

thanks the old way is probably quicker for TAS conditions, so no need to re-do the whole child section of the RBA TAS WIP. might be quicker for a non-TAS run, though

here's the new ocarina of time all temples route (feedback wanted, but read the stuff down at this post) I think, it is best, when I write down the All Temples TAS route, so you can have a look, if there are improvements or mistakes in it ;) child Section - Intro - Rupee Route with stick, escape with Water Jumpslash ESS, Get Ocarina - Skip Owl, SS to Gerudo Valley, Coccu Jump, to Spirit Temple, Get Requiem - Beat Enemys and light Torches, Mega Flip to skip Slingshot, Kill Anubis, Get Key - Get Deku Nuts, Go to Bombchu room, Lizafos Hover, Death Warp, Go to Dodongo's Cavern (8 Bombchus) - Beat Dodongo's Cavern with new Head Skip (4 Chus) (7 Bombs) - SS to Kakariko, SS out of Kakariko, SS to Zora's River, Bomb to blow up boulders, Get 15 Bombs from Plants, SS with bomb past Owl, Get Bean Do the rest like I did in my Zora's River TAS (4 Chus) (14 Bombs) - SS and ESS combination to King Zora, Mega Flip to get past King Zora, Jabu without a Fish (3 Chus) (12 Bombs) - Go to Ruto, Bring her up to the Boomerang Room, Kill Enemys, Get Boomerang, Ruto to Switch, Mega Flip to Skip Octo, Bombchu to Switch, Kill Barinade, Get Heart Container, Warp to Spirit Temple, Plant Bean, Death Warp via Ocarina Damage Trick (2 Chus) (9 Bombs) - Escape again with SS, SS to Market, Get 40 Rupees from bridge, to Hyrule Castle area, Owl Skip, Mega Flip (just to save a bit time), Seam Walk, SS, Moat Skip with Bomb (4 Chus) (4 Bombs) - Go to Zelda, Lullaby cutscence skip, 80 Rupees from Bridge, Buy Hylian Shield, Dot Skip, Get adult I have no time to write down the Adult route now, but the temple order is: Shadow, Forest, Deku, Fire, Water, Spirit Stuff down on this page: - DC as child is quicker, because of all the Superslide we can do - Deku as adult skips the cutscene, when you get to the deku area, what makes it quicker - Doing child temples as adult skips the ganondorf cutscence - Getting Bombchus from Spirit Temple is a little bit quicker than getting them from the well and it is also cooler[/b]

It's a little bit borderline doing the ToT skip and doing the YL dungeons as AL. If you plan on doing the ToT trick then I think you're route can be further refined. For example completing DC as AL would be a lot quicker. Also you would want to do the Deku Tree after you beat the Water Temple so you can use the Fire Arrows to burn the webs.

this is all maybe confusing, but there's no way DC isn't quicker as child. The temple itself is as fast as child and adult. the way from kokiri to zora's river is pretty much the same like DC to river, so all the time added is the trip from kokiri to DC. All the superslides save more time than the trip to DC costs ;) Deku as adult is the quickest child temple to beat as adult. After forest you end up in front of the tree, so entering the temple as adult is only 10 seconds slower than as child. 5 of those 10 seconds are saved by using the hookshot inside of the Temple. but the main reason is, that it skips the 1 minute deku tree cutscene ;) I end up directly next to the tree after the forest temple. going to water and back to deku costs more time than climbing both vines in deku tree with the hookshot. AKA, as the rupee route is just a pain to do and takes a lot of time, that could be invested into other stuff, I asked SL, if I could use the rupee route of the RBA run. He allowed me to use it, but I don't know, what you think about it. If you agree SL, it would be cool, if you could upload it somewhere and send me the link in a private message.

I felt the biggest strength of the current "all temples" run is that it preserves the game's chronology. I would personally prefer that the Door of Time glitch never appears in this run, and I would also prefer Bottle Adventure to stay out. The glory of the previous run was that it showcased the core of the game without completely abusing sequence breaks. I don't want to see such a good core storyline run of a game turned into a sequence broken collectathon. I don't think that is what this category is about. I'm just one person, but I do think you should collect more opinions on this before you spend too much time on a route.

1. RBA/BA is currently banned under MST ruling, at least as determined by SDA (TASvideos has yet to make a ruling, but the SDA ruling is what grunz is using). 2. The point and glory of MST is to see all the temples and bosses beaten, instead of any% where you skip them all. It is not about the games chronology or completing "essential" story points (such as opening the door of time). It is simply showcasing more of the game being broken to bits, not trying to break the game less.
