You have a handful of people skilled enough and experienced enough to produce a high-quality Zelda OoT TAS, and they don't want to go for an optimized run, finish it, and have Mupen+ come out two days later. Then you have a handful of people who, for whatever reason, feel obligated to demand a run anyway or try to convince the runners to do so. They don't want to do it themselves because they're either lazy or they just don't have enough experience with this game to do it effectively. So now we have some people asking for a run and other people explaining why it isn't happening. I know for sure that I wouldn't want to run this game with Mupen+ in the works, no matter how long away it is. Being stopped, not by your inability to run a game, but by a technical problem, feels like a ton of suck. There's no one to yell at, because the guys who do Mupen+ are doing it for free and they owe us nothing. The guys who can run OoT also owe us nothing. But we all want something, don't we?

Hopefully one of us will get around to testing some of these route changes in the next couple of days and we'll get the run going.
This, is very encouraging.

Bloobiebla says that the run was a low priority, and now it's less of one. I don't necessarily think it wise to assume he's speaking for the nebulous "they" in this case, nor do I see his post as a promise that the TAS will happen right away. All I'm really trying to convey here is that anyone who isn't willing to do this run should just be patient and appreciate anything the runners do give us in their own time... this thread has been bumped a painfully high amount of times by people who are basically begging or demanding a run, and this just seems rude.

Is there any part of this site that hasn't been tainted by this kind of behavior?

Pay attention people: they had put off the run, but now they are going to start working on it again. Quit complaining for no reason.

What they want to do is basically hit the reset button, but the emulator is not working that way - it's working as if you quick turn the system off then back on. This causes the playback file to desync.
Ah, so the sole problem with Mupen's recorded reset is that it causes desyncs, correct? There's not some rule against using it?

I guess it's my fault for trying to fix the internet, really. I should know better than to try to educate the hyperactive 14-year olds on game forums. I'll just go back to lurking and hope, against all odds, that people will stop flooding good threads with useless posts.

So, you're basically going to "fix" the internet "educating" "hyperactive" members (described as 14-year old kids), just because they're anxious about one of the most expected runs ever? Isn't that kind of behavior quite rude? I don't think anyone is demanding the run, sending death PMs to anyone, etc, just the good ol' forum drama. I believe the authors have enough autonomy to decide if they want to finish the run or don't. The users are just anxious. Calm down people.

At least you didn't publish your own TAS without preparing yourself. ;) We've been getting a lot of that lately.

The behavior toward ivmaddnessvi in this thread pisses me off. We have a new potential TASer, and you just want to run him off?
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

I wasn't trying to run him off, I was just congratuating him for being careful on what he does with his TASes.
