GoddessMaria: This is quite a well built TAS, I must say. Although there is the issue of the 3 mini-games, 2-3: Limbo Dance, 3-5: Teetering Towers, and 9-4: Knock Block Tower. Especially when there are 2 TASes that were made of this... One belonging to RattleMan and the other belonging to DennisBalow. If compared to Dennis's TAS, it is faster in all areas and has better Mini-Game pattern management than the TAS made by Dennis. When if compared to RattleMan's old 2008 TAS, however, it is shown to be slower in just those 3 Mini-Games. Despite that, the main run overall holds up long enough that it can still be accepted onto the site considering that the improvements can't be simply spliced in without destroying the entire movie.
Accepting this for the Vault.
Spikestuff: Cool... Publishing. Broken mess. Someone else take over and remove majority of the flickering from it. It's possible, I was able to remove about 25% of it.

Isn't the game name should only be called Mario Party instead of Mario Party 1? Anyways, I'm gonna watch the encode later and then I'll put my vote. EDIT: For people who don't have Nico accounts... or simply convenience (WARNING, TOO MUCH VIDS): Part1: Link to video Part2: Link to video Part3: Link to video Part4: Link to video

Well, I guess it accomplishes the basic purpose of a speedrun, but in terms of entertainment value, it's kinda meh. So that's what I voted. It wasn't bad. I dunno, maybe this game doesn't allow for much showoff-iness.

Is this lag differences or what? Left is this run, right is my own from 2008. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlfLptpCrRM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y86ha4HeYyI Also, possible RNG manipulating necessary? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlZmjNKXyg8

I saw some funny videos "Luigi wins by doing nothing" from Mario Party and would love such a TAS. Here… I'll vote meh.

Rattleman: I highly doubt it's lag differences. My guess is it's a consequence of how the character rises/falls being suboptimal in this video. I'd like to see this category published at some point. Unsure how it compares to Rattleman's/Dennisbalow's previous runs overall. I didn't watch this whole run.

To point out, Senshin has done an update to one of the three minigames. Link to video

Except that such runs would be indistinguishable from human play... so what's the point in doing them with TAS?

The flickering in some minigames might be fixed in BizHawk, though this run doesn't sync at all on there from my testing. For the Bobsled Run level, could you have saved a few seconds by racing the opponents normally to the end and avoiding getting stuck on the wall?

Good point. The interest I saw was to make a complete game, instead of showing segmented mini-games. On this video it is quitte apparent that Luigi is doing nothing. Not sure what a whole run would look like, and that might not be so entertaining…

A run full of "Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing" would be amazing from a technical standpoint because of the luck manipulation required, but as mentioned, it would probably in indistinguishable from the same thing happening in realtime.

...The whole "Luigi wins by doing nothing" fad is honestly ridiculous. There's nothing entertaining about it and the fact that it was done on Easy difficulty makes it worse. If such a run were made, I'm sure that it would be rejected without delay.

It wouldn't have helped any. Also that mini-game has an in-game timer so it was faster to just blaze through.

Probably the closest thing to "doing nothing" in this run is throwing the "Hot Bobomb" at the last second during that minigame. Which is just fine by me.

Anyway, I give this one a weak yes simply because some of these aren't that entertaining to watch due to waiting for the timer to run out. How ever, there are just enough entertaining ones to edge it out.

I would imagine it would be nigh impossible to do on Hard difficulty in MP since the AI tends to be very cheap and rarely gets knocked out of the minigame. Or rather there's always one AI character that is like that.

Does this complete all minigames? Because the difference between any% and 100% is so small for the Minigame Island, I would prefer if all of them were played.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

When exactly is "bad" flickering happening?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Did you even watch a temp encode or run it yourself? I'll give a short and simple answer if you say you haven't... because it does show. EVERYWHERE.

Sorry, I'm not in a mood for pointless misinformation. If you have nothing meaningful to say, you shouldn't have posted. At the moment of making my previous post, I was 25k frame in, I saw exactly two instances of flickering, and as I don't know the game, I asked people who know which of them are "bad".

Hey, maybe because I know nothing about this game, but wouldn't it be better to manipulate the minigame appearances to all use the shortest ones, or is that pre-determined?

I tested plugins and settings on this one, and it indeed starts flickering with anything but good old Glide Final, but floor going black doesn't seem to depend on any setting. Is it also a bug?

Yes. For me I was able to use a different RSP (HatCat's RSP) and made sure not to check any of the options in order to prevent the ground flickering to happen.
