I improve AngerFist's Kung Fu Kid run by several seconds primarily due to imrpoved control over jumping. The game is a fairly simple platformer but does have some interesting bosses.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 1.13.0
  • Beats the game as fast as possible

Comments

There isn't that much to say about the run. It turns out that controlling jump height and not bonking your head allows much more efficient travel through the narrow corridors, which is the primary imrpovement here. Otherwise AngerFist's route and boss strategies remain mostly unchanged, except for the last boss whose behaviour seemed more laggy and took a few extra frames to kill. Also the SMS pause trick is not applicable to this game.
My main motivation for doing this improvement is to try and update some of the older runs on outdated emulators, to make them more accessible.

Masterjun: Judging.
Masterjun: Replaced file with one that properly uses system BIOS.
Masterjun: This run has slight improvements over the previous publication even if the frame count is higher. The included BIOS makes this run 494 frames slower than it would be without BIOS. Great job updating the run to a newer emulator while also improving on it.
Accepting to Vault as an improvement to the previous run.
Fog: Processing.

Nice updation, Alyosha! I also intend to update some of Dega movies! ;) I'm not familiar with this game and I never watched the published run. Someone encode? EDIT: Obsoleting dega movies quest deserves a topic.

I considered making a thread for it, but I wanted to make it part of a larger thread about site currecny and which runs are the worst offenders in terms of being done on very outdated emulators. But, then I thought that such a thread would include basically all the snes9x and mupen movies, as well as VBA and probably others, so it seemed kind of pointless. But since there seems to be some interest in focusing on Dega specifically, I'll go ahead and make that thread at least so we can keep organized and not duplicate efforts.

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/39872420970425783 Please replace the movie file with this one. It properly uses system BIOS, which is present on all US Master Systems. Probably this should be a rule for Master System runs, since all Master Systems were sold with a BIOS. (Also while I'm thinking of it I should make BizHawk enforce this somehow.)
