Hello there, I came here to know if anyone's interested in making a TAS out of this game. It's, of course, a ROM Hack. As i've seen here, they allow hacks to be submmited here at tasvideos. There is a *sort of* Tool assisted video of this game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI7wzJm4zys Here the author focuses on doing a no damage run, but i was wondering if somebody here could do a speed-focused run of it. ------------------------ This thread was originally named Megaman CX. It has been merged into the Rockman CX thread, where a link to the game can be found.

I became interested in TASing this game myself, and i am currently working on it. But, expect it to have a large room for improvements, because this is my very first TAS ever, this is also the first time i use a TASeditor, and i don't know which may be a very optimal route for this game. I'll try as best as i can, but don't expect too much. EDIT: So far i've finished the intro stage and finished the level with kamen rider. I have a file, if you want to see my progress so far. I know it's not perfect, but as i said, it's my first time TASing. I'll upload the movie file if you'd like.

Sorry for the delay, but i've been busy with other things. I've came far enough in the game, beating the 8 main bosses, but there's a conflict. You see, there is a particular boss in the game that gives you a weapon that defeats almost every boss in the game with a single hit. However, for the sake of not being repetitive using that weapon, i've decided to use it on bosses that are not defeated in a single hit, and with the boss re-fights later in the game. I'm here to consult before going any further. (Well, to be honest, i use another weapon on three bosses, so, me saying that it is because of being repetitive is kind of pointless) And other thing, i don't know if this is normal, but most submission files (NES games, at least) are rarely beyond 500KB from what i've seen. However, my file is at 223MB (in its current state).

Those inflated multi-megabyte sizes are due to the fact a .tasproj (BizHawk) or .fm3 (FCEUX) keeps a whole bunch of save states in the file. Both emulators have an option in TAStudio (BizHawk) or TASEditor (FCEUX) to export to a .bk2 (BizHawk) or .fm2 (FCEUX), which do not dedicate many, many megabytes to save states. BizHawk -> TAStudio -> Load project file -> File>Export to Bk2 FCEUX -> TASEditor -> Load .fm3 -> ... I forget precisely, but look for export. You want .fm2 somehow That should produce a file of a much more reasonable size for submission. Just curious... Is it considered cheating when using something with cheat in its name, and with enough power to live up to its name, when it's handed to you in the course of normal gameplay? Well, normal within the realms of the hack anyway. I don't know what answer to really give, so I'll leave that to someone else to look at. I also recall some of the re-fights in that hack do change things since the original battle, but other than that, I don't have further comments.

I've made a decision, i'll upload said file tomorrow, (not today, because my computer is in maintenance.) and i'll let you guys decide if what i've done so far is fine (no Cheat saber for the 1st set of bosses, but okay to use it on enemies that must be destroyed in order to progress), no cheat saber at all, or a run with cheat saber. Since i don't have a youtube account (or a capture card), i'll upload the fm2 file to Mega. Oh, and thank you FatRatKnight, for explaining the differences of fm2 and fm3 files.

Okay, i've got my computer back. Here is the file: https://mega.nz/#!7RAQTRrR!cqri4MfLLyiAT_CH0o7e8N3Tc5eiNlf7nc2CnfbS4cw Below here are some problems that i intend to fix, it's your choice if you want to read them before or after watching the movie. -I think that Fire Mario can be defeated faster. -Cheat Man can be defeated faster, because he is not invincible some time before defeating him. -Bomberman can be defeated faster, there is a glitch (?) that lets you damage him Twice, or even Thrice, bypassing the regular frames where he is invincible (some of that glitch is shown in the movie, i've got to do this more when i'm fixing the movie)

Does anybody knows how is this glitch done?: https://youtu.be/fw8P5LxOVM4?t=33m58s They skipped the stage recreations you have to go through. You know, the ones with undertale music. I sure hope it isn't because of the japanese version. Or an early version of the game, for that matter.

you may want to know, that there's a TAS (japanese version) on nicovideo apparently already. :) This was uploaded on May 14th. I only just literally looked at this today. And it was very very enjoyable. I liked it. So if your still interested, you may want to look at this. :) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm31210812

Yes, i've saw it 3 days ago. i actually have made some minor improvements over his run. Well, i'm talking about going from an screen to another, not by how fast he beats the game. (he uses cheat saber to beat almost all the bosses in less than a second), i plan to make a run without the use of cheat saber, at least for bosses. In fact, i'm on cheat man's stage right now. (using the route seen on my WIPs) but since i've not made that much progress in it yet, i'd like to ask you (again...) what would be more well received: 1) A run in which i use cheat saber for getting rid of small enemies/ obstacles that would cause lag, and for beating the mini bosses faster (like that giant fish in fire mario's stage, or the dogs at yoshinoman's stage) or, 2) A run in which i don't use cheat saber at all. Also, for people that understands the zipping mechanism in megaman, how does it work? Apparently zipping doesn't exist in this game, or at least not how i'm imagining it would work, because megaman can get inside a ceiling, but it doesn't eject him, he instead falls normally. Watch this link for a better example: http://imgur.com/a/GUGsl PS. If you're wondering why i'm at that point of the game, it's because i actually re-made this TAS twice, improving everything as much as i could.

I came across this today. It's a hack of Mega Man 2. I thought perhaps some of you might like this. It looks interesting. https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3231/ ----------------- This post and the following was merged with an earlier thread that I missed.

There's a topic of this hack: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19155 I played a bit last year, but watched the whole game on Youtube. A bunch of interesting features not present in most MM2 hacks, and has potential to be accepted here!
My homepage --Currently not much motived for TASing as before...-- But I'm still working.

Interesting, couldn't find it when searching. Probably because that thread doesn't mention the correct title and doesn't link to the game. I'll merge.
