Compared to Brandon's TAS, I saved a total of 1 press (“A” press). This allows the game to be completed with 141 presses instead of 142. Where did I save the 1 press? In the warp zone in 4-2, just before entering World 8 pipe, when I crouch jump perfectly as Big Mario, our head doesn't hit the ceiling, so we can get through that part with just 1 jump instead of 2. The crouch button doesn't add an extra press because I would have pressed the down button anyway to enter the pipe leading to 8-1. So from the moment I started the crouch jump until I entered the World 8 pipe, I didn't let go of the down button. I actually saw this tactic in HappyLee's “minimum A presses” TAS, and it works here too. Other than that, the inputs are very similar to Brandon's TAS. I tried to do the inputs a little differently, but when the goal of the category is “minimum presses,” I can't change the inputs much.
CoolHandMike: Replacing existing movie file with requested movie file by author in discussion.
CoolHandMike: Accepting improvement. This is both faster than the original as well as having one less A jump press. The relevant button press that was removed was around frame 9400. Instead of jumping twice there is only one jump.
Accepting to Alternative for branch "minimum presses".
Interesting that you improved the "minimum presses" TAS after all these years, but I'm not sure you uploaded the right file and encoded the right movie? In Warp 4-2, I don't see any crouch (down) input until you are just about to enter the pipe, which doesn't agree with the description of the saved press in your submission text.
Just to be clear, I'm looking at the video from 2:29 to 2:38. Also the uploaded fm2 file seems to have Brandon's subtitles in them.

First of all, yes, I did not change Brandon's subtitles and did not add new subtitles because I don't know how to add or change subtitles. Second, since English is not my native language, I may have caused some misunderstandings in the submission text. I apologize for that. Other than that, the input file and encoded movie are correct. Actually, the part I saved a "A" press is right before entering the warp pipe. I apologize again for describing it incorrectly earlier.

I request that the input file in the submission be replaced with this User movie #638956323224398280 that I have uploaded. I removed the unnecessary frames at the end.

Oh right. Sorry, I wasn't looking carefully. I see the press that was saved at around 2:35 in the video.
I made an encode with input display and number of presses shown (I used the "ButtonCount.lua" script in the FCEUX distribution which Brandon, the TASer who made the 142-press TAS, created specifically for this situation):
Link to video(No DDR-style display this time. It was somewhat gimmicky to be honest.)
Actually, I request that the submission input file to be replaced with this User File User movie #638956978804829948, because it is faster this way. I saved a little time in 8-4.

No problem man. And thanks for the encode with input display and number of presses shown, I appreciate it!!

I've stripped out the subtitles from the above movie: User movie #638957210957518947
Edit: Not sure if outright removing the subtitles is the best option, but the old ones may not be timed correctly, and some comments are no longer applicable to this submission.

I request this User File User movie #638960558126607735 to be replaced with the input file in the submission if possible, thank you.
I saved 11 frames in the first room in 8-4. Due to Bowser's fire pattern, I had to sacrifice 1 frame in the water room. And in the last room, due to the bad hammer pattern, I had to extend the last input by 1 frame.
Result: I saved 11 frames and lost 2 frames, saving a total of 9 frames.
