Uh oh. That doesn't sound good. I hope it isn't a dead end either, you've done so much for this game and it'd be a shame to have it go to waste. Keep at it, but if you can't get it to work, that'd be very sad.

yay! how many deku desynch flowers are in the whole game? that's strange though, the first two flowers at the very beginning of the game you seemed to do successfully. hm.

Well the desyncs didn't really kick in until I got to the scarecrow and those Deku Flowers were before then. I have two flowers left in this area, three or so in the next and two in the temple. Then I'll have more when I return to the temple later in the run. Other than that it should be clear and easy from here on :) <<(naiveity)

FWIW, before my computer could magically play back the wips, the first flowers and the one in clock town were major desync points.

How many deku nuts will I need throughout the run? I have one in my route. I get 10 from the pot and 1 stick from the pot, however, I can luck manipulate 1 nut and 1 stick from the scrubs in this area which would be much faster. I really had hoped to get the next WIP up this weekend, but I was called into work yesterday, today and tommorrow which has seriously messed with my plans. I'll post a WIP when I get back to Clock Town (the 25% mark, I'd say), which should hopefully be soon.

Well, I'm not entirely sure if you'll need any, come to think of it. In a speedrun, they're used in Woodfall to stun the Lizafos for a quick kill from a Deku Stick jumpslash. If we use that strat, you'd only need one of each. However, Deku nuts also make the Garo Master go faster, and you'd need 3 there. So it looks like we should have at least 4 Deku nuts and 1 Deku stick

Coolness. I'll redo then. The time saved by manipulating the nuts and sticks is pretty small anyway. Also, through rewatching Guano's OoT run, he uses nuts rather often to good effect. It could be handy to keep a few.

I decided to manipulate a stick as it is much faster. Also, I've gotten pretty far and I'm just about to start bomb hovering. Right now I'm away out to get drunk etc. but when I return I'll stay up all night if need be to get this WIP done. I'll post when I get back to Clock Town (btw I'm not insane, if I don't do it tonight it won't be until Saturday at the earliest due to other commitments).

Drunk Link probably looks like when the .m64 desynchs, and he does all sorts of random stuff.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3868/Copy%20%283%29%20of%20ZELDA%20MAJORA%27S%20MASK.m64 Here is the latest WIP. I'm now back in Clock Town and I've got the bow etc. I'm pretty sure this is as good as it can get and after 18 desyncs since my last WIP redoing doesn't really interest me (unless, of course, I've really messed up). Anyway, I won't be starting my next segment (up to Snowhead) until Saturday, which gives plenty time for you all to look at this. I'll leave the encode to bkDJ this time ;)

How come you don't Deku Spin before jumping into the water he travels about twice as fast and rarely does he need to do that extra high spin at the end in order to make the ledge, apart from that not a lot to fault, I liked how you passed these annoying beatles outside of Woodfall Temple. Now prepare for probally the hardest part in the game as you make you're journey into Snowhead, as far as I remember there is 2 bomb drops outside SnowHead Temple and plenty of Magic jars from snow boulders along the way.

Okay, so forward to the next WIP. There are a few things that I still don't quite get -- 1) In my route Petrie says I have to do a 5 bomb bomb hover in Pirates Fortress, but doesn't specify where. 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PBupZfByJA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p73tR2CRYw Is this how I'm getting to Snowhead? 3) Finally, I still didn't pick up magic so should I superslide to Great Bay?

1) Bomb hover over the water in the first portion of the Pirate's Fortress. You'll do it where you normally need the Hookshot, so you'll see a Hookshot mark there. 2) I don't think you'll be using the second method to reach the entrance. You might conserve bombs by just taking the path around the back and blowing up the boulders that way.

This is probally how you'll do the first phase of the trick, although I'm sure you could do it a lot more optimal than this, I'm think maybe doing a Goron Roll and then switching to Link and whipping out a bomb in order to do the endless swords technique. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PBupZfByJA&mode=related&search= I'm also convinced it possible to enter Snowhead without doing that hover in the video you linked to.

It turns out that it is possible to take the back way around. It may or may not be easier on the explosives, I'll look into this more.

In that video, he hovers off to the side to avoid a boulder that is coming. With good timing, would it be possible to blow up that boulder with a bomb, and not need to jump off the track?

Oh, yes. He should just blast the snowball out of the way with a bomb. Further, once snowballs are destroyed, they don't respawn. I'll get a video of going around the back tomorrow. I'm busy tonight.

It seems that the amount of bombchus lost will make the Bomb Staircase a lot less effective than simply running around the back. If bombs don't blow up as soon as they are run over by boulders, it seems pretty obvious that taking the back route is faster.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQPCTxVWKvQ There you go. I think that's a minimum as far as bombchus go, although you'll want to blow up the snowball with a hover chu (didn't think of that until after I made the movie). Unfortunately, I'm not sure how this will affect the counts and rupees. The best way would be to try to minimize consumption and I can adjust the route afterward.
