Hello, I've been playing S4 League for over 16 years and someone in our community made an Emulator of an old version of the game a few years ago. I have since then speedran the Old Tutorial of it and got the World Record repeatedly since no one had interest in speedrunning this. Now, my interest has switched to the curiosity of knowing what the best possible time would be if everything was done to perfection. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no experience with TASing and looking at online video simply makes me nervous to be totally honest. I don't want to fuckup anything so I was seeking for help. In this site's game library, S4 League doesn't show up so I guess no one ever bothered to ask anything about it here since it's a multiplayer game at it's core but has some solo modes embedded. My first question is that I don't know if the emulator is suitable for any kind of TAS program that are downloadable here (btw idk how many there are). How can I know that exactly before downloading anything? Second question : Assuming that the program recognizes the S4L emulator, how do I make it so that Livesplit works at the same time to know the end time? Or is there an intergrated timer directly in the program that'll tell me? Third question : If I'm unable to make it work on any program, would someone be kind enough to help with making it happen via discord? That's all for now, thanks! p.s. here's my WR if anyone's wondering what the heck this game is about Link to video

hi! I can provide some answers: For tool assisted movies, we usually refer to the tools as emulators. You can check the emulators tab to download tools such as Bizhawk or libTAS. Keep in mind that other game specific tools exist that we may not have currently documented. However, and the bigger issue at hand here, is that as far as I can tell, S4 League is a windows only game. At this moment, the tools for TASing Windows games are extremely limited. You can try something like Hourglass if your game runs on Windows XP, but I would not recommend it.

This emulator you're referring to is a reimplementation of the server, with the original game files from 2009 or so? Hourglass is worth trying, but you'll want a Windows XP virtual machine.

It's integrated.

If no existing tools work then the options are using a basic macro, or creating your own custom tooling. The latter would probably be a long process.
