I'm aware. But we chat via AIM, and persuasive things happen there that could change that :-p

If people are really so bent on making a smash bros. run, it might be most interesting to do all of the break the targets. Aim for time in game as the primary goal, and try to break the world record times.

Meh, I got bored and made this. It's basically a movie (Although not that great, it's my first try TASing SSB) showing all the characters and levels in battles with three level nine computers. I'm not sure whether it aims for time, entertainment, both, or neither, so you might want tp decide that while you watch.
I don't see anyone else mentioning this even though it's been up for a while, but it's been de-synching on your second battle (the one where you're Yoshi) at the very start. I wonder if I'm the only one with this problem...

That's odd, my original copy runs fine, but when I download that one and play it, it desynchs for me as well.

That was rather boring antd. I only liked the Samus/Master Hand/Captain Falcon fights. Also, I've beaten Giant DK much quicker than yours did. Granted it was retarded luck, but basically my teammate Yoshi turned Dk into an egg right on the ledge and DK fell to his death and I got my first switzerland bonus.

You made major mistakes on both DK and Metal Mario. I KNOW that they can be 5 seconds or slower both. You threw in some new stuff I hadn't seen, uet removed some old stuff that worked well. At this point, this game needs either a GOOD run of Fastest time, that was more towards what your (U) version was like (especially for some fights like Pikachu. btw I will not go into a huge debate, but IMO fastest time still has a chance of being accepted at this site, despite far too many sucky submissions. But that video was not it the caliber it needed) that makes as many entertainment tradeoffs as possible and has no mistakes, or a BtT/BtP runthrough of the 8 main characters (as Zurreco, Baxter, and others have mentioned.)

Well, what about an all characters run, which aims also for entertainment? You would have to unlock all chararacters, including luigi, which shows you some realy cool bonus level TASes

As usual not many people know what they are talking about. Japanese version is different. This was done by Japanese TASer DsG.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh. Ok now. Well I retract most of my statements then. This still stands. I think you should go back to some of the stages that could be improved to match his time, and keep on trekkin'.

I've got a cool idea for a non-speedrun. Instead of trying to beat SSB as fast as possible, you would instead do a multiplayer VS match between two or more characters. It would aim to be the most visually amazing fight. As an example, Mario VS Luigi, four different Yoshis going up against each other, etc.

That would fall in the concept / demo category, but it would be amusing to watch it. how told that you'd have to published it in the first place ?

What I do love about this topic is that the same discussion has looped at least twice (oh lets make a speedrun! sure, but how about this? nah, that won't do, how about vs mode! gah, too hard, lets just make a 'normal' run instead!). I guess thats the downside to massive forum threads... This means a new 1P run is coming up though, which I look forward to watching while hoping it won't make me vote 'meh' or 'no'.

I think you need to see antd's youtube page. Everything you're looking for is there, no need for any submissions to show what antd already does.

IF a run were to be made and published (unlikely though), that's where it would go, since it doesn't fully complete the game and go to credits. There's nothing wrong with ZeXr0's statement. Honestly, just because you're an asshole doesn't mean you have to act like one ALL THE TIME. Yes, this game is plagued by way too many lame submissions as Raiscan pointed out. 1P fastest (antd's was doing pretty well and has a good chance of being published) or as I've now said for like the 5th or so time, BtT/BtP run with the 8 main characters, have an equally good chance of getting published.

Wait so there's a newer 1P run in the works?

Judging by how the cycle of this topic works, I assume someone's going to pick it up and try it shortly, just because they feel theres high demand for it and they can be famous.

But why does it matter that the publication would fall into the concept demo category? How is it relevant to whether or not that type of run should be done?

Do you like to answer all questions by repeating the previous question, as if I haven't answered it? Good thing for you I'm in an ok mood. Basically, the way you and CrossDressingBrushy are acting as if this game doesn't deserve to be published. I am going to overlook this incredibly "lacking of double standard" that you hold, and say this: assuming that this were any average game that you'd have no problem getting published, the type of run that waztango is describing would fall under the concept demos category because it is not a speedrun trying to beat the game but demonstrating the multiplayer mode that looks cool when Tool Assisted. You may think "but wait what about the mortal kombat and killer instinct and stuff" but those games are fully beating the 1 player mode while showing off weird things, but SSB already has its own 1P mode, and the multiplayer thing is more of a playaround goal.

On the contrary, the only reason I am mentioning it is because I do not want to see yet another run without any intense thought and planning into making it both fast and entertaining. If anyone should run this game, it should be adelikat and JXQ. In the incredibly likely event that they tell me to go shove the game into a 'recticular region', I would suggest anyone daring to run the game take pointers from the goals of their River City Ransom game. You know... Speed != Entertainment and all that... ... I hearby copyright the word 'recticular'.

Well, you didn't answer it at all. I'm not even sure what part of what you said you think answered it.

No. I'm saying it'd be very difficult to produce an entertaining movie that would meet conventional goals. The run that would fall into "concept demo" status is probably the best idea for this game. It is a run that I would like to see published (if executed well), and I don't see how the category it would be published in makes a difference to that.

Yes I agree it would fall under concept demo. So what? Does this mean it shouldn't be done? It would at least be publishable.

Comicalflop, I guess you have misunderstood me. I asked if it really matters if it's published as concept demo. What's so different about it then? It's still published. And I think this game deserves a good play-around-run, like wazkatango said. I stated it when you submitted your run and I think I've stated it even before that. Also, this game isn't suited for speed running. EDIT: It seems I'm just repeating upthorn's words here.
