Star Ocean is Tri-Ace's first work. Story is bad. But battle system and skill system are very good. It is very fun! Personally I want Tri-Ace to remake it.

Modern Planet Roak

  • Ratix had no Yasei no Kan(Wild instinct). His Yasei no Kan is blossomed later.
  • Random encounter of this game usually can't be manipulate. But you can manipulate random encounter only when you run after Milly. It is impossible to manipulate random encounter except that time.
  • I got ruby because I will make Berserk Ring from it.

Past Planet Roak

  • Iria had Kiyou na Yubisaki(Manual Dexterity).
  • I bought knowledge skill level 1 and sense skill level 1 and technique skill level 1 at Hot. Therefore I got 420 Fol at Clatos.
  • I went to disused mine of Metox in order to get Dwarven Sword and gain experience and Fol before hideout of pirate. I found the glitch that you can skip random encounter. It occurs when moving to the following area and encounter occur at the same time. And music is played back from the first then. But it seems to be used only where the name of place shows on the upper screen. I used it to skip the battle except shadow flower and three slimes. You can run away quickly only in shadow flower battle, and I gained experience and Fol in three slimes battle.
  • The more the participation member, the more quickly you can run away from battles. Therefore, I returned participation member to three people.
  • I got rainbow diamond because I will associate Marvel and I will get her to customize Holy orb.
  • You can skip the event of Astral to take the ship after staying lodging.

4 Emblems

  • Marvel's first talent depends on the timing of going out of Ecdart(Case of no encounter). And I want her to have originality. Because she customize Holy orb. Therefore, I delayed going out of Ecdart in order to manipulate her first talent.
  • I stopped on the eve of going in Portmis. Because I manipulate movement of passer. If I go in Portmis at once, there is passer on stair.
  • I found the another glitch which you can skip random encounter. When character who has no Yasei no Kan(Wild Instinct) scouts, you press X button to open menu on the eve of random encounter. Then it occurs.

Demon World and Revorse Tower

  • The screen glooms briefly after first Del Argaswy battle. This bug seems to relate to the glitch that you can skip random encounter. It is normal after random encounter. I repeated pressing A button 2 frame and releasing 1 frame one after the other during then.
  • Asmodeus's appearance changes whenever he damages a little. And he is invincible meanwhile. Therefore I kept stunning him in order to prevent him from being invincible. I used same tactic in Jie Revorse and Neo Revorse battle.
  • I used snes9xw-improvement7(use WIP1 timing, sync samples with sound CPU)
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Abuses programming errors in the game
  • Manipulates luck
I'm sorry when this comments and explanations are obscure. Thank you, everyone!

The voting poll asks a question. "Did you like watching this movie?" It does not ask if the game was well played. It does not ask is it impressive. It just asks if I enjoyed watching it. And here this post turns sour. My reply is I did not. Not one bit. I like the game. And I do not question the skill of the author. It was well played. But there is a problem. Language barrier. I do not speak Japanese. Here everyone will shout "But Cmuxmt! This is a TAS. All you see is just quick flashing of the text as the player works his way through the windows! The language does not really matter! And besides, that is the only version that is allowed here!" Yes, that is true. There is little legible text in a TAS. And somehow that flashing text helps one to figure out what is happening. When the game is in a language which I do not understand it feels a bit like watching a movie at the cinema with the sound gone. Not the same. And yes, I know there is no other choice. Translations are not accepted and there is no English version. This is just my opinion. This is how I felt watching the WIPs. From my perspective every dialogue becomes a hollow waiting period. Not entertaining. I have not seen the full movie yet, so I will not vote right now. I will watch it and vote later. And unless a miracle happens, my vote will be negative.

I'd vote yes if the goddamned thing didn't crash every time after the Shinkuu no Tate fight. tri-Ace dumbasses should learn to program their goddamned games better, it's a constant damned problem with their stupidassed games. And yes I have the same checksum and yes I waited for the 10 seconds, but that doesn't help if their code is ass.

AnotherGamer: Umm...I haven't experienced any crashing glitches in SO2 or 3. SO1 is awful for this of course, VP has a few that are easily avoidable and that's about it. Maybe it's your console...at any rate, these "dumbasses" make almost the only video games I enjoy playing at all anymore so I felt I should say something. I haven't beaten this game (gotten through a good chunk of it), but given how this guy slaughtered my Wai Wai World movie I'm sure it's full of excellentitude. -Josh
but then you take my 75 perchance chance of winning, if we was to go one-on-one, and then add 66 and two-thirds ch...percents...i got a 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at sacrifice

Well how do you explain everyone complaining about the damned things crashing as a rule, hm? Can't be all just a coincedence.

As I test the english Patches with the ROM it crashed too often. It was no patch error, because it was well known, that the game can crash at some situations. But I read too in a board, that it happen only on Emulators, that it crash. On real console it should work good without crashes. I don't own this game on real console, so I don't know if this is true. But I think on console it can maybe work better as on Emulator. Must now watch the movie, too when I don't understand japanese. But I played the game in the past in english and I hope I still know the story a bit. Watched the 2 WIP movies already and like them, how you manipualte random fight on different ways.

You tried turning off "Sync samples with sound CPU" in the movie play dialog, right? (I must've said this 10 times already...) It might be your Snes9x that's crashing on your computer because of that option. If it's because their game is buggy then it should crash the same way for everyone unless it's also desyncing...

I found the long (but almost certainly unavoidable) periods of running around on the field with neither action nor dialog to be worse than that. There is fast-forward, at least. And the occasional cicada to liven things up.

Turned it off on both ROMs, still results in a black screen at the exact same point every single goddamned time. And it doesn't even say that in the submission information and I haven't been around on the 9 previous times you told people to do that, so how the hell was I supposed to know?

OK, so it's probably not the "sync samples" thing. Are you sure your (japanese version) ROM is OK? What does it say the crc32s are is in the playback dialog? Also, maybe it's supposed to do that, did you try fast-forwarding a lot after that to see if the screen goes back to normal?

The CRCs match with the movie version, and no, the black screen isn't going anywhere, I've seen this damned thing countless times already. Chalk it up at yet another reason why I prefer AVIs over SMVs, FCMs, GMVs and VBMs.

I encountered a section with a black screen that seemed to last longer than normal too. I just held tab to turbo and eventually it got back to gameplay.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

Star Ocean is actuaslly the second work by the team that made it. The first was Tales of Phantasia.

Great, so I suck after all, it doesn't crash, it's just a goddamned long pointless black screen. Forget I said anything. Voting yes. Shame there wasn't any ougis being used, but with the kind of damage you do with even normal attacks, I guess they'd be kinda pointless.

Wonder me too about the long black screen. Must be an error with the game. Or maybe the graphic desync? Autofire A is the only button which is pressed through the black. So it seems that fuzi2 has this black screen too as he make this movie. Voted Yes.

Maybe Tri-Ace is just really good at programming games not to work well on emulators!

Yes, this is the same thing he's talking about in his submission comments:

I'm with Cmuxmt on this. The movie was well-made, but it was also unbearably boring for my states. I dunno about the rest of you, but I like to have action in my RPG, and that's something that this TAS failed to deliver throughout most of the run. Voting no.

It seems that there are many people who don't much like this movie, because they don't understand what's going on and there are very few battles. I published this movie, because - I enjoy the show (the game looks and sounds beautiful) - I've completed the game and I enjoy watching the fast completion - I also realize that part of the site audience is Japanese (13% according to the access logs) and they certainly can read it. The game is also better known in Japan. - And fuzi2 did a terrific job with the movie.

I'd think it's a safe bet to think that there were many people that didn't like this movie because it was boring. :|

Grab the game, apply the translation patch, and then play it. Maybe you'll change your mind. I think any RPG where you don't know what's going on will be boring. Being in a language you don't understand is just pouring salt in the proverbial wound. If Chrono Trigger were not the hit it is, I think people would be horrified by a 4+ hour run.

Yes, Star Ocean is a great game. As the Patch were released I completed it 2 times in a row to get all different characters. Was fun to play. The first time I have know near nothing about the game and do many wrong. Not used magic and talents. Its great too see a TAS from this game. I love the different ways how he avoid random encounters. And I know how long it takes me to complete the game the first time. I most try to do everything what is possible, so it takes me much longer then 2 hours.
