Marble Act 1 done! I was only able to tie the previous run. The zip is really hard to do! Other than that, I think this stage is maxed to its end now. So onto Act 2!

why would you even think its possible? he zips on the first frame possible and then stays ahead of the camera until he hits the flagpole.

Marble Act 2! Tons of savings here. Involves a small pushing trick that saved 2 frames, A "reverse" zip that saved about 5 frames, and several other small optimizations. The time is 0:34:08, Which beats the current run by 44 frames in this one act. In total, I am 82 in-game frames, or 95 real-time frames faster than the published run!

Progress I have a small problem with the boss. I am 6 frames ahead, but when I hit Robotnick, I lose 4 frames. I look at all the positions and values, and it doesnt seem to add up.

wow, the beginning of M2 and SY1 were a bit of a surprise. I never would have thought of that. and I'm kind of surprised you managed to beat my SY3 time by so much. also sy2 had a lot of changes lol. I think I counted 3 or 4.

Guys, I have an announcement. Im going to stray away from Sonic 1 for a while. The reason is because I dont like rushing games in order to get a publication near the end of the year unless it is an easy or short game. And seeing as thow many variables are needed to be watched, I think you guys would understand how much hard work is needed to optimize everything. I will come back to this, but think of this as sort of a break from all the work I did. Heres the latest WIP if anyone wants to see it. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/29700094/Sonic%20the%20Hedgehog%20TAS.gmv

I know I was a little late here (it was on the 23rd) but I was close. At least I got the year right (and the month but it most likely won't get submitted this month since there's only a few days left). I did get to celebrate Sonic's 20th birthday by playing Sonic 1!

For those wondering, I saved 3 frames on Labyrinth 1 so far. Its just taking me a while since FuzZerd did a very good job at optimizing. EDIT: Progress Here it is! The platforming section is hard to do without losing time, so its gonna take a while.

I have a little problem. Before the tunnel with the sponges, I am 4 frames ahead. But after I get through, I end up being 8 frames behind. Is there an explination for this? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1888213072/Sonic%20the%20Hedgehog%20TAS.gmv

Look at Sonic's horizontal acceleration at $FFD010. It goes down when Sonic's jumping velocity ($FFD012) is FC00-0000 which is when his jump ends (unless he hits a ceiling).

Wasnt really any use against the tunnel part, since you will hit the ceeling no matter what. I have a feeling its the water rising/lowering too late. Is the water on a global timer by any chance?

I used debug mode and figured out that when the screen position in the stage is greater than or equal to 0180 the water level changes on that exact frame.
