I've rather closely followed discussions about Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and XBox 360 in IGN, Gamespot, SDA and other sources to see what people think of them. Please correct me if Im wrong, but judging from articles I've read from SDA, IGN and Gamespot (note: I might have easily missed an important article contradicting my statement) people seem much more interested in Nintendo Wii. Pretty quiet about PS3 and Xbox 360. Here is my view on it. So far, Nintendo has been much more interesting in their presentation of their console. In brief, people are rather disappointed in PS3 because a: PS3 cost between 500-600 U.S dollars (depending on how many gig you desire) which is utterly ridiculous b: nothing revolutionary with their controller. Nintendo Wii good things: their controller seem to have no limit on what it can do. Perhaps even a new market is launched thanks to their controller. Downside might be that it will take a while before we can adjust ourselves to this controller but that shouldnt be regarded as a problem. The launch of Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 - Corruption, Mario Galaxy, Sonic and other games makes them highly desirable console. Discuss.

What i understood is that the PS3 controller will have tilt sensitivity, as well as acceleration based motion detection (not absolute space position like the Wii). But maybe i misread, and it will have only the tilting sensors (no movement detection) I'm not that much interested in realistic games (to pay 600$ for it). The visual quality achieved on the Wii seems to be pretty good enough to back up the fun in the new gameplay system.

The controller seems to be so intuitive that i don't think it'll take more than 10 minutes to get hooked up

I've purchased two systems within the launch month, the Dreamcast and the Gamecube. I don't think I'll buy a Playstation 3 until 2007 and I'll probably need a pricedrop and/or some killer games to buy it then. Nintendo's TNES (Terribly Named Entertainment System) looks good, especially since Nintendo is going to finally sell legal ROMs in a smart way instead of putting them on multipe eCards or putting a grand total of one tiny NES game on a too-expensive Gameboy Advance cartridge or burying them inside Animal Crossing. Yes, it's possible to download old cartridge games off the Internet but I like to buy classic game compliations periodically. Oh, and a new Dragon Quest game sounds very nice, too. My big worries right now: * How many games will the Wii hold and will I have to delete purchased games to buy more? * How well will developers use the remote? I remember this game (http://www.joystiq.com/2005/12/07/arcade-title-hints-at-revolution-play/) -- swinging a sword to play a game is a fun gimmick but, after awhile, the gameplay felt very shallow.

I've only been following E3 through Slashdot and from there it sounds like Nintendo is really blowing away the competition. I was maybe surprised that there was supposed to be 27 playable games for the Wii at E3. I don't know that I actually saw the list, though. All I can say is that I still don't really want to buy a PS3 but I'm more interested in getting a Wii than I was before. I might even *gasp* try some racing games.

Yet it will have Square-Enix's main cashcow, Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII, so it'll sell. Also for the PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4. Both of these titles have raised the PS3 publicity a fair bit, even though the actual sony pr conference was a bit weak. Not to mention PS3 is slated to have a Blu-Ray drive. If it can play movies it's actually quite cheap for a blu-ray player. On the microsoft side we have Alan Wake and Halo 3. Naming the console Wii was a smart move from Nintendo though. The utterly stupid name is generating a lot of interest for them and now with the increased E3 hype they're doing rather well. Now all that remains, is to get rid of the 'childrens console' -image. Don't get me wrong, though. I have nothing against the image, but for a commercial success, it's bad. They'll have hard time catching Sony/Microsoft's already instated street image. On another note, Blizzard seems to be topping all the console manufacturers with their Burning Crusade announcements and the upcoming 'secret project' -announcement. I wonder what happened to Ghost. EDIT: I'll end up getting the console that has the most interesting games. The tech itself doesn't interest me that much, though the blu-ray player might be handy.

What the hell is this Realda crap? I thought they were going to be showing Zelda but then it's some 20-year old Japanese guy wearing dirty clothes.

You guys are crazy! New Link is awesome. I think he needs his old school outfit back instead of his OoT+ "men in tights" look.

OoT Link was bad enough but now they've gone and made him worse. What happened to the 10-year-old kid who had to solve puzzles because he sucked in a fight?

Can we expect the next The Legend of Zelda game to include an old man in a red robe who says, "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this"? Link is brave when he has a sword!

He's gone sailing for the next fifty years. Who cares, adult Link owns all over kid Link, if nothing else, for the not-quite-as-annoying sound effects.
