It would appear that selecting avatar #10 updates the avatar preview to #9 by accident. Oops. However, it will select avatar #10 for the post as expected. PS: This thread generates a mail error when replying. It seems somebody has a broken email address...?

I decided to create a mood-variant avatar for myself. I obviously picked the images from the Ctrl+Alt+Del online comic. Here they are: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. Not that anyone cares... but I felt like sharing.

I'd do the same, but it's easier to just check the mood report. And in doing so, it seems that Photobucket has been playing havoc on the avatars...

Already done ... that is my "sad" avatar. The "unhappy" one was labeled "tired/unhappy" so I chose to make a "tired" one instead.

I suppose I'll put an explanation here about my set. That way I can just refer people here whenever they ask. Eleven of the fourteen avatars I have are from Ferret Monogatari: Watashi no Okini Iri, a Japan-only pet sim for the Gameboy Color. Specifically, this ferret is a silver mitt I ended up naming Stuv... except for the "guru" avatar used in this post. He's just some DJ that teaches Stuv what moves to make during one of the three minigames available in it. The other three are of the Pokémon called Furret. This set has gotten me a lot of compliments around here, both guy and girl. I certainly wasn't anticipating as much attention as I've received from it. Edit[/b]: With Bisqwit's recent expansion of options, it became apparent that Stuv nor the furret were going to cut it. As such, I've decided to include a few of Jeanne Carley's ferret photos to fill in some of the blanks.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

After my previous webhost has failed me inexplicably, I went with a new host. I don't recall exactly which images were in which positions before, but that's my fault for not keeping a backup with proper filenames.

Some people may have noticed I sometimes use more avatars than technically allowed by the 1―13 choices available on the posting form. So to be fair, I extended that selection now, available for anyone who has the mood selection feature available in general (users with ≥350 posts & mood_avatar URL pattern set in their profile). Sorry for making the posting form more confusing than it was :)

I've noticed that while theres a somewhat noticable pattern to the alternate mood numbering, the ones at the end are a bit random. I was wondering if there was a reason for this?

Hmm... the mood report page seems a bit broken again; the page is saying that I don't have images specified for avatars that I most certainly do have specified. I'd go out on a limb and assume that it's doing the same for other users, as well.

But you haven't used them anywhere. There are only two ways for the page to detect which avatars you have actually defined: -- Just display them all, all 34 images for each user. And cause lots of redundant web access. Some 404 messages may be huge images. Not worth displaying them. -- Try to download them on the server and interpret the results. Not going to do. So instead, it just displays those avatars that are being used in some posts. This way, if you have to complain about someone's oversize avatar, at least you're complaining about something they actually have posted.

40..255 are those I originally planned for my private use only. Only later I enabled those numbers for other users. In the same run, I also decided numbers for the alt avatars, i.e. 1000+main number.

Aha! I hadn't realized that was the methodology in the display, since it used to show the entire list regardless. But good to know, that's actually rather useful.
