As I learned in Harmony of Dissonance, turbo A is still not the best way to go through text, no matter if you do it on an even or odd frame. It's hard to describe, but sometimes one character has more than one text box, and it takes 3-4 different presses of A on varying frames to get through each paragraph, where turbo would lose 2-3 frames. It might take 5 frames for the first paragraph to go through, then 4 frames for the next, then 6 for the next, then 3, etc. etc. Trust me, with rerecords and such you have the ability to make something as simple as texts optimal, and turbo text really is only the way to go when two different buttons have the exact same effect, such as A or B, so that you can spam and A and B every other frame so that every frame has input that can make the dialogue go.
As I said, the dialogs are optimal. In most cases, a person has only one text box, and in this case, auto-fire is possible. In the rare case a person has multiple boxes I test every frame. Check it out, you shouldn't be able to do it faster.

Is there a mem address that shows when the button can be pressed?

I don't think so. I guess it is more complicated than a simple memory address (but I could be wrong). It surely would make dialogs more easily, though.

Dudes, is it possible to kill the chaos-boss using Julius via glitches and exploits? €: Like in http://tasvideos.org/1974S.html (klmz's run)?

iirc the only glitch you can also perform in Julius mode is that catopblepas-backdash-stuff glitch. I don't think it is possible to bypass that black mist door with that glitch alone. It could be wrong, though. However I've never seen beating Julius or Chaos in Julius mode without hacking. The death warp is also not possible in Julius mode.

You can also perform this.

Interesting glitch... using the waterfall to sink... Even if you could reach the Chaotic Realm, you can't fight Chaos, because in "Julius mode", the cutscenes are skipped. You'll stop at the empty room after the green door and the portal won't open. And I don't know a way to jump right away to the boss room.

Has this been tried yet? In Soma mode you can also skip cut scenes and it works.

Except it doesn't just skip them, it never loads them, and the trigger to start the portal is hit by the cutscene ending, not beginning. Curiously enough, the fight against Julius still works in Julius mode.

Can the Julius fight be reached and left without invoking a cheat device? In that case a Julius mode all-boss run might be interesting.

I'm pretty sure you can leave it, but any attempt to get to it would require a warp glitch into the Chaotic Realm, then back out through the portal to the Julius Boss room.

Julius has only several ways to get warped. It's very difficult to find a way to warp him into the Chaotic Realm. @pirate_sephiroth: Are you still working on your "100% souls" run?

Currently I'm not working on anything related to tool-assisted speed runs. I hate hasty submissions, anyways.

Oh how sad. I've been expecting your "100% run" for long. But what do you mean by "hasty submissions"?

Submissions that are rushed for the sake of getting it completed quickly and on the site.

Hmmm, I was not asking pirate_sephiroth to rush his run out...

Of course not. There are just a few people on this site who are dogged by perfection to the point that theoretical yet unattainable improvements will keep them from progressing.

Hi, I'm currently trying to figure out routes with warping / out-of-bounds glitches for both New Game and New Game+ unassisted speedruns, but other than Catoblepas warps, I have little experience with techniques used in recent TASs, such as the Giant Bat zipping glitch from the last and the death warp glitch from the new TAS. Are any of these feasible / possible to use in unassisted runs?

Welcome, Serris. Personally I think only a few glitches are possible for unassisted run, such as demon rush, Catoblepas warp, damage into wall, money cheating glitch. Other glitches are hard to actually play.

How do the money cheating glitch and damage into wall work exactly? I only managed to clip the Killer Doll out of bounds, not myself. I found this apparently unassisted warp run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDoTvbKhfwU What route would you use for a New Game+ warp run? There are so many ways to warp around that it seems futile to figure out routes without tool-assistance.

wtf is that money thing...? I knew the "damage into wall" for other better name, which I forgot... it is all about batmorph and flying into a corner, right below a thin ceiling while having the Zombie Officer soul equipped. You need to be hit by an enemy while you're holding UP on the d-pad. If you do it correctly, you'll "sink" into the ceiling a little bit. Then you press the jump button to regain control before Soma drops and batmorph again. EDIT: it's called "WINDBLOW". (I learned this a long time ago from Darkspenser)

Yeah, that's what I'm doing, but it's the Killer Doll that glitches through the ceiling, not me. I'm using the original European version, could this have been fixed or am I just missing something? Also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjFf7q2tXwM starting at 1:50 How does this work? After the Catoblepas warp, I fly right into the next screen, only to start zipping away from the warp room along the chapel ceiling, then disappear past the right side of the room and get a black screen, so I guess that's not how it works, but I can't see what he's doing differently.

Oh, and that shop glitch is interesting... it is somewhat similar to that in pokémon R/B/Y... It can be used as a simple memory editor. If you didn't understand it, it's all about having only two items, move to the first position and press R.

Aitch-em-em, it seems that everyone (used to be) working on an AoS TAS doesn't have much progress so far... Is anyone still working on a "non-warp" or "100% souls" run?
