Post subject: Making more than one TAS at a time

Is this a good idea, especially since I'll be doing 3 out of 4 with SNES? Do Savestates work specifically for one game in one emulator, or can savestates apply to different movies being worked on? I think I might spend a section of TASing time to work on one game with all savestates used, and then pause and work on something else using all savestates, and then when going back to the original recreate savestates for that run. Or is that not nescessary? do seperate copies of emulators work? am I making any sense at all?

What? It's a good idea to juggle multiple projects only if you know you aren't stretching yourself too thin. As soon as you take on too many runs, you'll have a very hard time getting anywhere quickly. Savestates are game specific. I don't understand what your second paragraph means, though.

comicflop if i understand you correctly you think there are only 10 savestate slots for the emulator. if this is the case, you don't need to worry about that, each game has its own savestate slots.
What would Mr Belvedere do? Probably eat some butter.

I was trying to throw out ideas about how the savestates work, but I got it answered so it's ok. I don't think I'm stretching myself too thin- one is an improvement of my run, two are very similar simplistic games, and the last one is a joint effort with someone else so it should be ok, alhtough it's going to eb the most intensive out of all of them. I can always leave one for later if it gets too tough.

I think working on one at a time is the best. It keeps you focused with it more and you won't get confused or mixed up with the other runs. If you should do multiple runs, do them one after another. Also, can I be clear that I havn't entirely agreed on anything yet, since I'll be much more dedicated to ALttP than YI. We'll see how things turn out.

Alternating two similar games or two different runs for the same game would also work nice, I suppose.

I think more than one TAS is a good idea for the same reason as why you have more than one friend. If one pisses you off or annoys you there is always another to go and play with :)

1 TAS is an improvement of my run, and some levels will simply be spliced in so it won't be difficult, the two kirby games are basically the same (the 64 one is slower though go figure) so playing the two won't be hard, and the last one is the hardest, and possibly will be worked on the slowest/most meticolous, or simply afterwards when we're both done with our respective current TAS's to devote all attention to it (but currently we're starting to make testruns and play with the game to have familiarity to see if we can even finish spezzafer's WIP without losing quality.) So overall I won't be too taxed, unlike my initial plan to do 7 at the same time.

Seeing as how I can rarely find the time and motivation to finish even one at a time, I doubt that having more than one would help.

I work at one TAS at a time, unless i'm making a dual run... Or that would count as a single TAS? :) I have a few runs on hold (halfway through): Yo! Noid Battletoads (J) 2p-warps Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle And i have known improvements of a few others, which i wanted to do: Adventure Island Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion And there are those many games which i wanted to make, mostly improvement to already published runs.
