All the hard work of last few weeks has been completed. The new site has been published. I'm quite short of time (I'm leaving tomorrow and I haven't even packed yet) so I'll not write more now. EDIT: this topic needs no longer be sticky

I love it. It's everything I dreamed it would be. Well, that is, after the rest of the functionality is added, but what's already up and running seems to be most of it. Good job ^_^ Hopefully your workload wil only go down from here.. you need a break ^_^ Have a good holiday!
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

Good idea. Yes, I agree some of the categories are too specific. I tried to avoid specifiness but I also tried to add everything that could make a new movie fall into a different class. I'll see what I can do, some other time. EDIT: Solved this problem by adding a "specific to a certain game" flag to the categories. Sorting / grouping by game versions is a good idea, but it would require established versions. Currently the versions are just free form text fields - they vary somewhat. One thing I want to do is to add a "most recent movies" option.

A cookie so that you always are logged in would be nice. It's kinda annoying having to log in everytime you open up the site again.

It does use a cookie for exactly that purpose. I'm not expert on cookies though. I use the these settings on PHP session management.
php_value session.cache_expire 200000
php_value session.cookie_lifetime 2000000
php_value session.auto_start 0
php_value session.save_handler files
php_value session.cache_limiter nocache
php_value session.gc_maxlifetime 7776000
My guess is that there's something wrong with your browser ;) If someone can tell better, it'd be nice.

It's probably your browser that is too restrictive.Probably that shit of IE.

I have this same problem with FireFox 0.8. Could it be the session expiration time is too small? EDIT: It's working fine now.

I fixed it, it appears it was IE being retarded. I don't know what's wrong with blip, though.

I have firefox 0.9 and I don't have this problem. Maybe ,blip, you have imported from IE settings when installing Firefox?

Don't sessions just last until you close your browser? It doesn't work for me either (Firefox .8) Anyway, pretty nice. You should update the main index page though Shouldn't it redirect to the front page? And we don't need to know what page it was refrenced from. The personal page is cool, but I would like to click on something other than the question mark to get there :p And you should specify what a trusted user is.

Yes we do - at least the editors do.

Then edit the page so that the link isn't broken. Names having spaces in them... hmm. I smell problems...

The text "trusted user" links to the "Wiki Policy" page which explains things a bit better than these two words.

I know, I just found it confusing because there was no definition for trusted user. It seemed like that you were saying that trusted users was one of the entries on that page.

Heh, with the site changing, I don't know about half of what's going on with it. I ended up resubmitting a movie, but Bisqwit already put it into the submission area for me. No worries, it seems to have a lot of potential to grow, and support growth.

very nice job! one minor glitch though, when going to "my" page, my nick is suddenly QFox, instead of qFox. it seems to create the new pages with the first char as a capital, and the next page seems to copy this behaviour... i know, i know, this is bitching, but still... :)

When I try to login at the nesvideos site nothing happens and it doesn't let me login. Does anyone know what's wrong? Also, the new site is a little confusing, so I have a few questions about it: 1. What happened to the list that said when movies were added that used to be in a scrolling thing at the top of the nesvideos page? 2. Where can I see the movies that were submitted? 3. How am I supposed to know which user level everyone is in? 4. Who decides which movies get published? Can any judge decide that a movie should be published, or do they vote on it? Also, will Bisqwit still be encoding all the movies or do the judges encode the movies, and if so can the judges upload the movies? 5. Are players able to upload fmvs that aren't being published to the site? 6. Where could I see a list of all the personal pages? 7. What exactly are registered users allowed to edit?

1. Check there : http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?mode=list&maxage=1209600 2. There: http://tasvideos.org/queue.cgi?mode=list 3.I don't know but right now it's me who judges which video is accepted or not during Bisqwit holidays and Boco is an editor. If there's more people I don't know. 4.Well I'm open for suggestions and ideas.Just come visit us on chat. Server: irc.enterthegame.com Channel: #nesvideos 5.Yeah at the submissions page but you must be logged.Note that your login and pass are the same as actual forum login and pass. 6.There: http://tasvideos.org/players.cgi?mode=list 7.Their submissions and their personnal page. 1. Check there : http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?mode=list&maxage=1209600 That just shows all the movies added in the past 14 days, but it doesn't say when. It would be helpful if he added back the scrolling thing to that page that listed when each movie was added so I could easily check what was added since the last time I visited the site. 4.Well I'm open for suggestions and ideas.Just come visit us on chat. Server: irc.enterthegame.com Channel: #nesvideos4. Are all uploaded fmvs considered to be published, or can someone just upload an fmv that he doesn't want to be published, such as one that demonstrates a particular glitch in the game? 5.Yeah at the submissions page but you must be logged.Note that your login and pass are the same as actual forum login and pass. Well I know what my username and password is, but when I enter them nothing happens and I just see the same screen again, and when I try clicking on submit movies I see that I'm not logged in yet. 6.There: http://tasvideos.org/players.cgi?mode=list That just links to each player's movies. I was talking about pages such as this one: http://tasvideos.org/Phil.html?rev=3 Is there anywhere I could find a list of all of those pages? 7.Their submissions and their personnal page. I have another question. What exactly can judges edit? Also, can someone be in more than one user level? I also have two more question. Is there any way to see all the movies or fmvs for a particular game? Also, is there any way to submit articles to the page, such as a walkthrough for a game? Sorry if the answers to these questions are obvious, but it would be much easier to figure these things out on my own if I was able to login.

I have some suggestions and things I'd like to point out too: - The font is a different size depending on browser (i.e larger in Opera than in IE, at least for me). All in all I think a smaller font wouldn't hurt. - Lose the thumbnails. They are cluttering the top and it's very difficult to find the movie one is looking for there anyway. Just list the titles in alphabetic order. When viewing a specific movie a single thumbnail seems superfluous. - The large pictures could be scaled down and still be clear enough. Should reduce traffic too. - The switching between Japanese and English titles is cumbersome. Most people I would think does not know the japanese title for different games. I don't see an easy solution for this problem though. About the new design: - Most people come here for the movies. Previously the movies was zero clicks away from the front page, now they are two clicks away. Also, since movies are what people are here for there is no sense in listing them very last to the left. - The left panel sucks a lot of space, especially on the long pages. The previous menu was good in this aspect (fixed box in the upper corner). - Always list best movie first. For example, the slower Sylpha movie is listed before the Alucard one. - There is no "new movies" list like there was before. That was very practical. Small error: - Linnom's Batman movie is listed as "Takes no damage", but it does take damage (third boss, I think). I know, everyone's suddenly an expert when they don't have to do it themselves...

I really have to agree with Michael on this one about the scrolling box. It is becomming a real pain in the arse to find the updated/new movies. Before all I had to do was take a quick glance at the top then scroll down. Now I almost have to read through all of the movies to see if there is anything new. Maybe when you hit the front page it could say what new movies there are, then have a direct link to them.
