I intended to just play the game through normally, but tasing it felt more natural to me.
Ultimate Qix is that type of game where you draw lines to narrow the play area. Level is completed by reducing the area to 10% of it's original size. To make things interesting, each level presents a different boss and some smaller enemies that go around aimlessly.
The movie shows reflexes and skill, but in my opinion the sound effects ruin it completely. Also, level transitions take more time than completing the levels. Nevertheless, maybe there are a few happy guys who enjoy this by-product of my playing session.
At the hardest difficulty each level must be completed under 2.5 minutes. I aimed for the fastest possible time:
Round 17.2s
Round 25.4s
Round 34.1s
Round 42.3s
Round 51.7s
Round 64.9s
Round 72.8s
Round 86.9s
Round 92.0s
Round 104.5s
Round 113.5s
Round 121.6s
Round 133.2s
Round 144.5s
Round 158.1s
Round 164.5s
Total1min 7.2s
Average4.2s

nice, I enjoyed watching this. It ended quickly enough to not get too repetitive, and showed some variation throughout to keep things interesting--the extra lines you put in while waiting for the boss to stop moving in the last few stages, for example. Never thought I'd see Qix whooped on like this, but I'm glad I did, hehe

I liked this as well, despite the fact the game tried it's very best to make my ears fall off due to unforeseen stress. I mean seriously, could the development team listen to that annoying buzzsaw-sound and enjoy the game? I see a lot of potential in this game, some of which was wasted in this movie. In the late part of the run you started using the extra lines to make things more interesting, but towards that end I think the waiting time could be used to conjure up quite nifty stuff (creative figures etc, think of JXQ's Metroid keypress animations). Still, I wasn't bored and no extra lines at the beginning meant less of the buzzsaw. This is wildly subjective matter, of course. Yesing dis.

I remember playing this type of game many years ago on my computer. Although that game had better graphic and music, this is a entertaining run. I cannot believe you got 99.9% in one of the stages. Is it even possible to get 100%? Anyway, I voted yes.

I thought you had found and beaten every single strange genesis game out there. I've never even heard of this game before or seen it. It plays pretty crappy from the little time I spent on it as well. Yes, again because I didn't see obvious problems and it was ok, but its the same thing as last time (DO GOOD FUCKING GENESIS GAMES).

I'm stunned by this... very nicely played, fun to watch... just wish there was a quicker way to get 99.9% on every level! That would be astonishing! But regardless, Yes vote from me ^^ Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I don't see the problem, because it seems that you, stanski, are voting "yes" anyway. ;)

Hmm, for the record, sound effects didn't bother me. Having the stages go by too quickly so that I could watch the transitions did. Hence, the meh. Maybe you should play around a bit more, like drawing pictures or silhouettes or something like that, while dodging the enemies? A rough time estimate shows that your in-level time would be multi[lied by about three, making a total time of the movie… about 7 minutes. Big deal. I think I'd enjoy such a movie more.

Voting no. I find this game quite unsuitable for TASing. The optimal solution for each level is immediately obvious, and the same for each level. And I don't find the solutions to be interesting to watch nor impressive. Moozooh's idea about playing by drawing doesn't sound good either. Then it is just pictionary with a few enemies. Still not something I would enjoy watching.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

Better drawings might help, but this game seems really dull.

There's one in the endgame, albeit so small that it's hard to miss :) I know this game as Volfied, and it has the excuse plot that aliens have taken over your world and there are no survivors; in the extro you find out there is one survivor, and the two of you go to populate a new world together. Yep...
