Rather than the usual Speed run, this is a Wetrix 64 1 minute challenge. The object of the 1 minute challenge is normally to survive and hopefully aquire as many points as you can while sticking to that main objective. However, thanks to frame advance survivability is the least of our worries. So the objective is changed from survival...to points. This movie attempts to gain the most points possible. Current known unassisted records for Wetrix 64 sit at 18,071. This movie demolishes every current attempt TAS or not with a total score of 2,613,944. Although at time of submission there are no current TAS publications, there are 2 canceled submissions. This movie beats the first submission by 2.5million and the second submission(done by myself) by 1.9million.
Because of the mechanics of how the pieces are set up. It is impossible to manipulate any pieces after you start the 1 minute challenge. In fact the only amount of luck manipulation that is possible(and is used) is on the menu before you start the game. After looking through more than 100 different sets of pieces, I felt that the set I chose allowed for the most multipliers(ducks) early in the run.
The reason my score is so significantly higher than all previous attempts is because of the ducks and the rainbows. All of these multiply any score by an incredibly high amount for each one in play. For instance...obtaining a rainbow multiplies your score by 10, and each duck multiplies it by another 2. So a rainbow and 3 ducks would be a multiplier of 80(2x2x2x10). By the end of the movie I obtain 6 ducks and a rainbow for the very last meteor.

Here is an AVI of the run.

Bisqwit: Replaced the submission file with a new one the author provided. Also, replaced a blatant overuse of the ugly %%% markup with much simpler markup, i.e. leaving one empty line between the two paragraphs, as the author should have done in the first place.

Impressive yes vote, I quite like how you builded up several smaller lakes in order to make a large one in the middle and ZOMG three rainbow bonuses.

haha ouch. you've decimated my score yet again. Don't know about one of the random camera movements that zoomed in really close, and some pieces looked like they were just randomly thrown onto the middle of the board, but incredible score. This could potentially be the optimal score, so I think we're now ready to see submissions of the other modes!

I was just about to watch the movie through mupen, but the AVI made that unnecessary, thanks AKA! I wasn't too impressed w/ CF's first run, but this one was somewhat more entertaining, now that I've seen a couple of different runs to compare it to. And totally crushing the high score, again, is certainly worth a yes vote.

for those that don't know the game, you must build walls so as to create closed zones where you get rid of the water ; then when a meteor comes, water evaporates. the bigger the lakes are, the more points you make. thanks to frame advance, it is played at an incredibly fast rate, I vote yes.

Well...pending Bisqwit replacing the current file, I found if i moved the 2nd to last downer elsewhere i could evaporate more water. Doing this I gained an extra 154,182 points. A 6% increase over the current submissions score to bring the total to 2,613,944. Here is the AVI http://files.filefront.com/wetrixavi/;7560022;/fileinfo.html

Just awesome. I've already played the game, though I don't understand everything that's happening, but this is very perfect and cool-looking. Yes vote.

Guess I'll increase the "WTF? Yes." response count to 4 (though it's already published, so it doesn't matter quite as much anymore).

I feel like puzzle games provide the most 'WTF' factor, in that you can just perform so much better than playing 'for real'. I mean, given that you can do all the thinking you want in a frame of game-time, it's no surprise that it's so astounding to watch. Still, I don't mean to marginalise the effort here - brilliant work. I enjoyed seeing the multiplier in full flow. A longer playtime might be even more fun to watch!

This is a technical and well planned TAS but I didn't find it entertaining as I didn't know what was going on. But overall "Yes" vote.
