a small update to the zipless TAS. I did restart to utilize newer and faster levels.
four zips still remain, two in AIZ1, one in AIZ2, and one in Sando 1. Could've done sando 1 but I'm not too well versed in stair clips at the moment, but it looks likely that I can get to the right wall by walking running through a certain section of the level.
The WIP has all the info. No encode because I don't want to do one.
"Reboot it. Replay it. Reshow it. Retell it." - Yakko Warner, iirc
Sando 1 route visualization (image may not be very viewable in the forum, click on the image for a clearer view)
- Blue Path is the glorious no horizontal underflow route.
- Red path is the path I hope I can take zipless.
- Light red path is the path I fear I need to take, if it even saves time over the "standard" route. (It should)
In the meantime, here's a video of Sandopolis 1 currently as it is in the userfile. Let's ignore the fact i'll probably be in LR2 by the time I make it public, struggling to dezip the stair clip at the end, then feel dumb realizing it wasn't necessary all along.Link to video
Edit: here's a spliced demonstration of my plan for Sando2. I can apparently do it 2s faster than I thought, maybe even 3 (1:28 --> 1:26, possibly 1:25)

If a map had all the information, it would look like this: (shows black construction paper)

I was going to try improving your AIZ, because I had a feeling that I could do it, but I couldn’t open your link. Could you please reupload your gmv to the microstorage?

Think it has also been uploaded here WST. Good luck with the optimization.
Regardless; awesome work thus far KnucklesMaster368. Been following this when I could, but never got around to posting about your great additions.
Oh huh, hi, i was just passing by here like i do once every several months, when i saw this topic about Zipless going on, i guess i should share my very old and probably outdated work on AIZ as S+T (WST already saw it, a lot of times), it was supposed to be completely glitchless that's why it doesn't contain the "loop jump glitch" thingy, but i think the use of tails can be huge even in such a run. Here you go:

See you next year !
Can anyone help me with the Blue Spheres Special stages? The eighth one is really making me mad.
Edit: I was able to beat it but it is hard to Sonic 3.

RTA Community found a new (potentially TAS-only) method for setting up the memory from within S3K.
The above video is sorta spliced, just to show off how much it saves, as the new method was found using a modified Basic Bot for BizHawk. So it would be likely that the gens tas would need to be ported to BizHawk, and then modified to incorporate this.
A few of us in the RTA community have been working on the updated TAS. Needs to be Bizhawk for basically a single frame - a soft reset, to prevent the game from wiping the memory corruption in AI2.2.
Here's the progress so far: It currently saves 18691 frames versus the current Sonic TAS. So over 5 minutes.

Crazy stuff. Somehow I'd missed Wrong Warping things had been found, at least to this degree. Sure as heck wasn't expecting the Sonic and Knuckles alone title screen to pop up.
Looking forward to the finish submission.
Yeah, it all happened over a span of about a week in May - one discovery had a snowball effect of looking into a variety of things, so would have been easy to miss.
Latest progress is here - we're getting close to finishing:

Who would have thought after all these years, that a timesave for Gapsule was found, by missing the triggers for certain hits.
42f in total. 44f over the one in kaan's TAS (this comparison video is a 40f timesave with 42 over kaans)

Here's the 42f/44f over kaan's without comparison:

can you glitch the emeralds as well? i'm curious how strong this glitch is
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.
