A 2D Rockman game on a system without physical entropy. =) It does use the DS time, but that can be assigned a default value. Hopefully it doesn't measure the drift between the RTC and the CPU as entropy.

right. In the hope that anyone is still working on a TAS of this game, I want to discuss strategies, while I have never TASd a game, I did beat the shit out of this title and I am dying to see this game TASd. I got the following times (based on cleargame save): 0:53'39 Easy, 0:57:27 Normal and 1:02'01 Hard All were single segment playthroughs with Vent.

Great! Someone want to discuss this game! Which path of mission should be selected puzzled me long time... Dd you have some ideas in this problem? Another question is the boss should be LV4 finished or not? (in my opinion, they should be LV4 finished, but i don't know if it will be accept this in a time-attack run)

i think they should only be LVL4'd when necessary. most of the time, avoiding a weak point is slower than just killing the boss, especially when you have Model HX's full powered charge move.

You could claim a "makes time/entertainment tradeoffs" rule for LVL4-ing the bosses, but it really depends on if the bossfights are more entertaining with than without it. At least it'd be a straightforward rule so people wouldn't be able to accuse you of being inconsistent (which is a problem with many time/entertainment tradeoffs).

Routeplanning should be this: (normal mode) intro, Take the test, find giro, Area D, Hivolt, Fistleo, Hurricaune, Prometheus, Luarle, Leganchor, Purprill, Protectos ~finals (easy mode) intro, test, giro, D, Hivolt, Purprill, Protectos, Fistleo, Prometheus, Hurricaune, Flammarl, Luarle, Leganchor ~finals. On normal, you can rape some midbosses horribly by using the Ground Break(LV2 +down charge of FX), but in TAS maybe OIS wiggling can outperform it...I killed the big Mettool in two GB's and I killed the midboss in Area F in ONE ^^ As for Tactical Finish, HX needs both LV4, as in the final stage you have to use it on 6 bosses!!! (flammarl,fistleo,protectos,purprill,serpent1&2) FX needs two LV2 victorys, PX needs LV1s and LX needs about...I dunno, I always get two LV4 on them >.> or sometimes a LV3 on Luarle, practially you can LV2 them both tho. The normal route setup is made primarily to enable you to get the HX's OIS Tornado asap, and to make sure you can take the shortcut in area I, since it saves alot of time. On Easy, you only really need the RollingSlash and PX's LV1 Chargeshot... Something I discovered that may be useful, is that you can hit the airplane boss by shooting the Double Charge Shot at a wierd angle, the pink stuff around the charge shot will deflect and if done properly it connects, enabling you to take him down in 3 turns instead of 4! Also, for a TAS, I think it may be better to use Aile, since there might be some use to her hitback (bounces more off enemies than Vent) and she actually crawls faster. I saw some great bossvids on Youtube from AnLZero, they might help since they're superfast but they're LV4 only, so you should keep in mind to tweak strategies into hurting the bosses weakspots. When I get mah new camera (and a DS with an L button that I didn't break), I'll try to make some recordings to help, it'll be shakking all over the place since I can't hold the damn thing still tho. I actually broke two DS L buttons and two DS Lite L buttons during my speedrunning of ZX(and a little ZXA), these things are weak XD

i think take damages is better~ OK, i have completed the intro stage with Desmume 0.9.2+ about 6 month ago, and i'm waiting for the emulator's development. Maybe i should do a full test run with 0.9.4+? To Elpis TK31: Thanks to your path, i'll do the test.

I've tried to manipulate it but that's the best I got, that was my first TAS (and only still) so I'm not very good at it why would taking damage be better?

OK, finally, i have decided to do a test run at first for this game. The intro stage is complete now, but i'm not sure if this new style of move will be accept, so i need some suggestions. You can find the WIP .dsm file in Here Emulator used:DeSmuME 0.9.4+ win32 binary (r2964) And the game ROM used (U) version. By the way, is there someone can help me do an encoder and upload to somewhere? i'm too hard to upload any big file to anywhere with my worst network environment xD...

That was quite possibly the most annoying method of movement I've ever watched. Part of the reason I never did a test run of this game months ago was because when I tried, I couldn't find the optimal movement solution, since dashing and dash jumping had varying results. I'd probably guess a dash then a dash jump repeating, or the reverse would be the fastest, but I never really checked it. On the basis that dashjumping continiously is the faster, don't just do it at the lowest height every single time. Now, outside your horrendously annoying movement style, that was pretty damn good. There was a point there where you waited for the snake to move before firing, was that to make it not whack the ground and throw rocks at you?

I couldn't watch the video, but... if I understood correctly you're lowjumping continuosly? with my tests, that turned out to be slower than dash+jump or dashjumping repeating jumps, I don't know why but I tried between the boss doors and it took more frames with low jumps than not with dash+1 single jump+dash it took me 883 frames to kill the boss (if my tests are written correctly), how many did it take you?

First, my jump is all dash jump, not just jump. And 772 frames to kill the boss.

I didn't mean "just jump" I meant low jump, as in you are dash jumping but pressing the jump button for very little time so you don't jump high? that is slower than jumping high, that's what I meant nice boss fight, is there no one who can make a video of it?

Was this made in .9.4 or .9.5? regardless of which, it syncs in .9.5 so I'd recommend using that to continue. Anyway, comment time: the intro looks better, nowhere near as painful to watch as before. Why did you not choose the "pass the test" mission first? you had to backtrack through the secon darea twice, so it seems a bit wasteful. You could use the first transserver to take the mission, and then the red transserver at the end to take the second. Other than that, looks nice, keep it up.

Hmm, i'll have a try. In the Locate Giro mission i must get the computer chip then i can fight with the airplane, and in Pass the Test mission i must talk to the soldier first, so it is also some backtrack in area B and area C. But i don't know which way is better, so i'll have a try.

Thanks to Atma's suggestion, the Locate Giro mission and Pass the Test mission have been improvement 1400frams in total. Here you can find the 3rd WIP .dsm file. The area D is now completed, and i'll do the last test, then i'll put my exactly path in here.[/b]
