This movie is 78 frames faster than my cancelled run.
  • Plays back on FCEUX 2.1.5.
  • I originally used fceu-rerecording-0.98.28
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time

mmbossman: Horrible game, and it doesn't make a very good TAS either. Rejecting.

Noxxa: Judging in consideration of the vault.
Noxxa: Even though it technically is an incomplete run, this is as far as a playthrough can get from the start, on a legitimate version. Accepting for the vault.
A TAS on the hacked version of the game (as shown in the thread), that fully finishes the game, may obsolete this run.
Brandon: Publication underway.

In this case it is the same situation with soft reset, I think.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

But soft reset doesn't clear RAM, both in emulators and real console. While hard reset clears it in emulators and, according to nesdev, clears it on real console. PJ, do you have any actual videos or an information about this happening?

Link to video Glitch happens at around 0:45. Also, does Cheetahmen 2 even have a soft reset function? To my knowledge, it's only possible to hard reset. And I haven't been able to reproduce the glitch in emulator yet (using hard resets), which is probably impossible because of emulator determinism.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Any NES game has soft reset. By soft reset I mean pressing the Reset button on the console, which doesn't power down the console, doesn't clear memory or registers, but just starts executing the code from reset vector. OK, in this video there are soft resets being used, so the cause of the level glitch seems to be memory corruption, and not an uninitialized memory state at Power on. So determinism has nothing to do with it. The main problem is, the glitch apparently requires subframe resets, which is not implemented in FCEUX or Bizhawk.

Pointlessly casting a NO vote after the fact because I really just do not understand how this quintessentially abysmal game that virtually no one has ever played or would ever seriously want to play is worthy of publication, even at vault tier.
Oh, play it cool. Play it cool. Here come the space cops.

For those interested: A bad game done even faster (by 8 frames), and with BizHawk as well. The author says that the amount of lag was not changed from the previous. Link to video
