This is a dramatic battle run of Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha. Dramatic battle is basically first and second player vs a computer controlled opponent.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: FBA RR v0.0.1, tested and syncs fine with v0.0.3
  • Trades speed for entertainment
  • Show glitches
  • Controls two players

Comments

Both players share a life bar and they fight four difficult boss battles. You can easily die in a hit or two if it hits both players at the same time, loosing 4 quarters in the process. To make up for this your given infinite super. The rom sfz2alj is a combination of sfz2aj and sfa2

Stage by stage comments

1st Adon round

So if I was going for speed every round would look like this. Note that super throws can combo in this game. In most street fighter games shadows move during superfreeze, most of the time this is harmless, but Roses shadows are not harmless and can hit during a freeze. Roses super throw is unique in that you can combo out of it with another superthrow. This can cause some strange things to happen if you time it right.

2nd Adon round

Just showing what you can do with inf custom combos. Notice at 0:34 that rose switches to her kick super rather then a custom combo, and that throw damage doesn't scale.

Sagat

1st Just showing some super combo juggling that's possible. 2nd it's possible to dizzy with a super, and a projectial only CC.

Vega (dictator)

1st a round with mostly normal attacks. Note that sim would have killed Vega with the super at the end. When rose activates CC it causes Vega to fly higher.
2nd So rose has a unique alpha counter. Normaly she can combo after it. For some reason the suction from sims combo will keep the opponent standing in mid air. I end my combo so that you can see Vega do a crouching fierce in mid air and to show he will keep on fire after the combo.

Other comments

I think it's improvable but I think Dhalsim and Rose are the ideal characters for this kind of thing.

So yeah, THIS is what a Street Fighter 2 player movie should look like. The fast moves and incredible teamwork make this a good watch, even though I haven't played the game. And it's really short too. Yes vote.

Nice job, its great seeing a fighting game run that's quick and to the point. Those beatdowns were just plain hilarious.

Usually I'm against TASes of fighting games. But this can't get anything else but a yes vote from me. It's short, it's fun, it's well done. And it's the first arcade submission ever, though I'm sad about that because I hoped to be the first one to make one :( tl;dr yes vote

Liked it, voting yes. Stupid question: Why is M. Bison called Vega in this game?

Because that's his original name. M. Bison was originally the boxer, but the names were changed in the US because it was too close to "Mike Tyson" (His full Japanese name is Mike Bison) and they're probably get sued. All Japanese games (such as this one) call him Vega, Balrog is M. Bison, and Vega is Balrog. This is also why Akuma in here is listed as Gouki.

Bwahahahahaha! I was wondering how frantic a Dramatic Battle TAS could be, I guess I got an answer. I think supers are a little overused, but apart from that very cool stuff.

Not sure I'm satisified with the last two rounds so I may end up redoing them.
I really hope you don't redo them. They were the most entertaining rounds of them all. You weren't just cluster fucking the opponent, but actually using air maneuvers and juggling. (<-Round 1 vs. Akuma especially)

Very entertaining and it was short so it didn't drag on to long. Yes vote from me.

Easy no. Very entertaining movie, no question. But just the same as SDR's SSF2 submissions, this kind of movie shouldn't leave the concept demos area. This is by no means disincentive to stop making these movies, I love watching them! But trading speed for entertainment opens the door for 8 more video submissions showing off different characters, and that's absurd to me.

That's fine with me, as long as each video adds something new and interesting. Which will probably disqualify them. Just saying "more videos that are worse may be submitted after this one" isn't much of an argument to not publish this one.

Didn't do it for me, I found it just looking like a big pile of sprites going mad uncontrollably. Thus, I'm voting no.

A strangely positive response. Thanks for the no votes I was starting to think I posted this in the wrong place. As I said before I think these characters or optimal but if someone does better with different characters then this one should be obsoleted. We don't need a sfz2a section with 5 runs. Seriously tho it's a non speed run of a fighting game, I need some more no votes or people will think it's fixed.

Is it just me or did you type your own name wrong in the submission form? e.g. is it error1 or errror1?
