There is something I noticed a while ago, just remembered it now: Youtube normally doesn't require Flash and some browsers have it pre-installed anyway (Chrome). But for some reason, embedded Youtube videos in submission texts tell you that you miss a plugin if you browse that site on a browser like Firefox without having Flash installed. Embedded videos in posts don't have this problem, only submission texts, which seems really strange. Did anyone else notice this or is it just specific to a PC I'm using?
Does it also happen on wiki pages? (e.g. Wiki: WelcomeToTASVideos)
Wiki pages are using the Flash player instead of the HTML5 player (which extends to submissions, I assume). Right clicking the embedded YouTube player reveals this.

Ok, thanks for explaining this! I'm just a notorious flash-hater ^^
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

I don't really know if this counts as a bug, but if the description of the movies in the Featured Movie part of the front page is too short, you have no way of actually getting to the movie page (usually reached by clicking on "Read More"). I can't get to the movie page :(

I'm not alone in this, jlun2. Apparently, when I visited the front page, I also saw that it went back to the revision made on 12-31-2014.

The front page is static because of the traffic from SGDQ. Same thing that happened earlier in the year during AGDQ (which is why the static page is from around that time).

Thank goodness, I though at one point that I was back in time and I just had a single publication... I was scared shitless for a while.

Like others in this thread, when I visited http://tasvideos.org/ and saw the broken page, I got confused. I understand the need to protect the front page from lots of traffic, but I have a few questions: 1) Why not put a comment explaining that the main front page is currently disabled and link to somewhere explaining in more detail? 2) Why did you use an old snapshot showing being from the end of 2014? If you had a recent snapshot, then at least people would see newer movies. 3) Are pages cached? If the issue was server load, and serving a static page works, that suggests that you could have just put caching in front of the normal page and have been able to continue serving. 4) Is there another page to see the most recently accepted movies? 5) When are you going to restore the main page to serving normally again? Just generally, it would be helpful to be more clear about what's going on, instead of making it look like the front page is broken.

The main page has already been un-static for a few days now (since a few hours after SGDQ ended), and the static version had been updated a few days into SGDQ (well before the TAS block). I suppose you don't see this because of your browser caching. Try reloading the front page with Shift+F5. Clicking "More..." at the movie list on the front page brings you to this page with all new publications and some other updates.

Ah, you're right. I just had a cached version. Thanks for pointing that out. I should have noticed, since that's a common problem. As another recommendation for next time, you probably shouldn't set the cache time as large. For this page, a day would be appropriate, so the browser will start fetching the page again not too long after it has been returned to being dynamic.

1) Oversight 2) This was corrected while the event was ongoing. 3) Pages are cached (I don't know the exact internals), but when you're logged in you get an uncached version (except during the event you wouldn't for the front page because that one was just a static HTML document) 4) http://tasvideos.org/NewMovies.html and http://tasvideos.org/NewVaultMovies.html 5) Answered True, this event things went kind of chaotically. Key persons weren't available when they should have been and general planning has been meh to ech, let's hope we can do better next time...

Maybe it's not worth mentioning, but http://i.imgur.com/AviXPOv.png and when you go to page 2, it says http://i.imgur.com/39zIcj8.png I checked other forum sections with small amounts of threads and this didn't occur.

Fixed. This may happen again over time, I suspect that some site code somewhere doesn't update the topic count in the subforum correctly when moving around submission topic, but should be good for now. (For the record, the site database thought there were 64 threads, instead of the 9 there were at the time, which was causing the empty second page issue)

What Masterjun wrote, with BBCode disabled ---- So... http://tasvideos.org/forum/ ^ This is the bug In case this gets fixed this post was completely blank. ---- By the way, URL opening and closing tags should not have a line break between them (although I'm not sure about the format); if it wasn't clear already, various problems occur when a line break is placed between them. For example, if the post isn't blank, then the link has an extra <br> in it.

As of yesterday, forum notifications have been going to spam in Gmail. The reason given is that the e-mail does not follow Gmail's guidelines for bulk senders. It doesn't look like the e-mails themselves changed, so I'm guessing Google's standards changed, unless they accidentally got too touchy. Learn More leads to this: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/81126?hl=en#authentication EDIT: this has continued to happen since I posted this, so it's an actual issue.

Removing "http://" from the url code seems to mess with the url destination: With http - leads to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbVB7n70EUw&feature=youtu.be Without http - leads to http://tasvideos.org/forum/youtu.be/sbVB7n70EUw Even though the url tag never indicated it would treat it as a forum url.

That's how URLs work internally in HTML

I tried to edit my page via my phone (android) but couldn't do it. First, the website's menu links have been unresponsive. I needed to tap on things 5 times before it loaded the next page.. Not sure if that's a problem specific to my phone or to mobile phones in general. The log-in form did not show the password field, even though I have js enabled. So I had to find the actual login page to log in. And when editing, I was unable to select the word I wanted to replace. At least I can make posts like this one from phone..
