And why was the description removed, if I may ask?

I disagree. Some of the featured TASes practically need the movie descriptions for vital information and links so newcomers would know what to expect of the featured run.

I prefered it when you could see the description and a link to the artist's comments/forum topic/etc. It shows the kind of intelligence that's put behind each run, and what can be said about it, and will help catch people's attention - especially for ones like that really glitched soccer game, which without a description will make people think "WTF? Why a soccer game?'

I will add my voice among those who preferred the description being there. Please bring the descriptions back. Yes, that's the entire point of this post. I feel it is important enough that it merits posting by itself.

Ok, so you mean that in the "Featured movie", there is no description. Yes, that was intentional

You could at least change "View Publication" to "More Info..." or something like that.

When I saw the lack of the description I, too, thought it was a bug and I was about to report it here. Fortunately I saw the posts above before I hit the "new reply" button, so I won't report it. But I will side amongst the ones who would like the description to be there again.

There are plenty of runs that, from just the game title and time, people would think "why should I care?" The descriptions help to explain what makes each run stand out and helps encourage people to watch runs they would otherwise ignore. I'm guessing the text was removed to make more horizontal room, allowing the TASVideos news to be displayed to the right. Any reason the news couldn't be shown below the featured movie instead?

The Wario Land 2 listing isn't pulling up the new publication on the site, only the link to the old publication shows up (no screenshot either). If you work your way though that to the new publication, you see several error_handler messages on the page. Edit: Seems to be fine now. Loads fine and even Mario Pinball shows up.

I'd to like to add my support to the group who wants the descriptions back. Now it looks even less attractive then a YouTube thumb.

Ok, NOTED. You don't like it. Let's move on. This is a bug report thread. Please use it for that.

In line with the thread, what was up with the brief (12 hour) period a few weeks ago when viewing submissions ability was removed from the non-logged-in?

The forum acted weird on me a few minutes ago. I posted, it said the post went through, but the post disappeared. Also I was logged out while I was posting. Then I reposted. It turned out to be a double post. Sorry if I probably flooded the irc with post notifications, it wasn't my fault, I was logged out after I submitted, and the forum had that bug where it says the last post was made in 1969 or something like that.

But come on, seriously. You can at least think of the impact of removing all descriptive text for a change.

They're not going to fix it because it's an "intentional feature", and not a bug.

I think you missed the point of my post, which was that there are two pairs of two buttons for downloading and neither marks what the hell it actually is. (Sorry, I guess I was unintentionally making fun of the lack of descriptions in publications too. Which is a fucking retarded idea, by the way. As usual.) (And no, I'm not really fond of this mismanagement.)

Couldn't at least the description text be retained, if not the other info?

Here's why I spoke about my anger in the IRC channel a while ago: Someone asked why, the reason amounted to nothing more than a whim, there are numerous posts speaking against this change, evidenced in this very thread, and apparently they're not good enough against said whim. Anyone here mind splitting these posts into a new thread? "Front page movie description decision", perhaps? Technically not a bug, but there are complaints, and I really do hate seeing them ignored or taken lightly for a vacuous reason.

I made the mistake of thinking this was actually some idea that had some thought put into it. My disappointment only grows. Ugh.

The movie listings are behaving slightly odd. It used to be that I could navigate while the page was loading, but nowadays I can't scroll anywhere until the page is done or I've hit the stop button.

For some reason the "watch now using" links are not showing up anymore for me in firefox. They show up ok in konqueror. I haven't changed any settings (javascripts are enabled for tasvideos.org, and it doesn't seem to even try to load them from anywhere else). Apparently the recent player change is the cause for this, but I can't really understand why.

The "watch now" links continue to appear fine here in Firefox. Are there any JavaScript errors reported on your part?
