Extra Mario Bros is a perfect Super Mario Bros hack by ATA from Japan. It changed a lot, especially Worlds, Enemies, Effects, those make this game even more fun.
IPS Patch(to Super Mario Bros): http://HLMarioHacks.ys168.com/ (it's a English space for downloading)
Because of the old website was broken, so you have to download it from my space. Open the folder of "Extra Mario Bros", you can find "Extra Mario Bros.ips".
There are 5 areas, 8 keys, 5 extra mushrooms in this game, collecting 8 keys is important, there are 2 keys in every area except area-5, you have to get all of them to get in area-5, unless you won't meet the final boss.
Extra mushrooms are not as necessary as 8 keys, but getting those can make the game easier. Those 5 extra mushrooms are: Ultra Fire, Super Fire, Technical Fire, Space Jump, Screw Attack. I only get Space Jump and Super Fire in the movie to save time.
I played hard in this movie. Aims for fastest time, and the entertainment value was great.
The final boss fight is very special, you have to lose time to save time sometimes, I believe I had a good job on fighting the boss. Now the boss is even more powerful.
Hope you like this hack and this movie.

Haha, about two years ago I was thinking how it would be a cool TAS candidate — and here it is! Will watch immediately.

Wait, wait, wait... Something is out of place here. What's the NES's sprite size limit? There's no way Bowser can grow THAT big... Whatever. Someone should do a rough encode on this, I don't wanna risk downloading anything to play this movie file for it.

DUDE... that's a huge bowser.

Bowser can be that big. Super Mario Bros. 3 did exactly the same thing in the ship levels. Basically, an extra chip inside the game helps scroll part of the background, and well, some sort of mystery trick that I don't know how it works. Basically, there is a psudo-2nd background layer. Anyway, will watch when encoded.

By the way, who will encode it? I can't, because the video file I encoded was not good.

Well, this was the most entertaining NES Mario experience. This hack has everything SMB lacked, and even more. Voting yes! Do you think you will be able to do the 100% version, HappyLee?

No, it's hard and boring. Mine is Aims for fastest time, someone did the 100% 1UP, getting one of the 1UP mushroom has to be die once.

Here is an encode, for those who can't obtain, or cant be fucked applying the .ips patch. It's of questionable quality, but I needed it to be small enough to upload onto skydrive. http://cid-de1e7fef4aaf7e0d.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/HL%7C_ExtraMarioBros%7C_transcoded.avi

I'll give this a weak yes vote. The run itself was alright, but it involved too much jumping/hitting the ceiling for my taste, you couldn't enjoy the game's music that way. Also, why is it that you sometimes wait before you jump to get a key? Are the controls blocked or do you waste time to manipulate luck?

If you're talking about TASing it, that ok, I understand. But, as a viewer, I don't think it'll be boring at all. Yes vote, thought I agree with ShinyDoofy

'Meh' vote, I approve of the hack but the whole backwards jumping especially when hitting a low ceiling was off putting. I'd rather listen to the music than hear the looping sound jump.

The hack looked fun to play with an art style that made it look different than other Mario games, and the TAS was well done even though it was mostly bunny jumping. That last boss is really impressive from a technical standpoint too. Yes vote

Oh? I'm seeing things that look like SMB1(some bricks, Bowser), 2(the shell(?), waterfalls), 3, Land2(pipes, Mario), Land3:Wario Land (some enemies and I think the rock-type background), SMWorld (Goomba)... (Oh, and Metroid, but anybody can see that one.) But yes, the assemblage does produce a different feel than any.

I agree with the general consensus. Everyone knows at this point you can jump backwards in a mario 1 game. Yes, jumping backwards adds entertainment, on occasion. That doesn't mean you need to do the entire damn run backwards jumping. I really want to see this hack published, but dang that is hard to watch.

Yeah, you are right about that one, it's my problem, but if you want to enjoy the music, you can play this by yourself, this movie is not about that, sorry. About the key getting, you can only get the key when it has been down for a while, so you have to wait. It doesn't lose time.

Nice hack, excellent run (even it could get a bit repetitive and boring in the midgame, but I assume that's the game's fault not yours). I had no problems with the bunnyhopping. Yes vote.
