I'm confused. What is this "Useful youtube comments" you speak of? I've never heard of such an object.
If the purpose of the video is to reach a lot of people though, there should probably be a lot more tags added to it (like all the relevant game and author names).
Yeah, I don't really know what I am doing when it comes to tags. Probably stems from the fact that I am terrible at coming up with key words when searching for things myself. Every game sounds reasonable. I don't know about the authors. Someone who has never heard of TASes is going to do a search for "HappyLee"?

I forgot to mention the different version in the 1st post. The "real version" is the version not on youtube. I don't want to go into detail but let's just say youtube didn't like that version, so we came up with a youtube friendly version. As far as which version I will be promoting it will be the original (non-youtube) one.

I thought it was good, but I didn't like the Gradius scene. What's the purpose of showing off "Adelikat" being written on the screen? And I didn't like the fact that Castlevania 1 was missing. Music made me wait for it the entire movie. Other than that, awesome!

Let's start with "mario, castlevania, zelda, metroid, megaman, sonic". You can also add something like "game video" just to generate more contextual hits.

Awesome video! I thought the MegaMan II and River City Ransom segments were too long, but good good stuff. (Just) An idea for an addition to the intro: Show a small (say 5-10 second) segment of a TAS actually being made, ie with redos. I'd suggest a segment where, say, 3 ridiculous jumps/shots in a row need to be made -- it doesn't matter, just something where the success/failure difference is visually obvious. Show a couple attempts being made at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd phases, each redone until success is achieved. Then, display the whole, perfected segment. I'd suggest total time for this to be about 30-45s, and explain what's going on with subtitles, perhaps with an undo counter. I mainly suggest this because even my (non-TASer) friends who are most aware of the videos I make still, for the most part, don't really understand HOW they're made. Obviously, this could also be a separate video for the FAQs section; I think decent speed platformers like SMBx, SM, or Ninja Gaiden x would work well. But to re-emphasize: great job!

I like how you can just show a whole stage and have it short enough to work as a clip :-> How about the stuff that is just pure glitch crazy though, like pokémon green for instance; or the stuff which is just impossible like the megaman 3-6 run? The stuff in the video just seemed to much of the same really

it's a good promotional video, but a poor educational one. For someone who doesn't know the words "TAS", it doesn't explain anything - it just looks cool, but will probably keep the viewer misinformed.

The goal is not to educate. If nothing else, because that can't be done in a short entertaining promotional video. The goal is to make them drool then click on the site for more information. Once they click one the site, then all their education will start. (Hint: In its current state the site fails at this. But I hope to change that)

Looked cool, nice work. I found the first half a little NES-heavy, but the greater variety in the later half made up for it. I think embedding this video in the Why and How would be best rather than on the homepage. The homepage has too much on it as it is and a video would overpower what I'd say is more generally relevant information. The video is aimed at new and potential users almost exclusively, whereas the content of the homepage as it stands is of interest to all users and visitors.

Here is a nice AVI download of the youtube version of the promo video: http://www.mininova.org/tor/2963551 I'd like to this somewhere on the site. Where should I?

WhyAndHow would be a good place to start, IMO, in addition to embedding it there.

I just watched the DailyMotion version (as opposed to the YouTube version I watched earlier) and it had advertisements floating over the movie every 90 seconds. That's pretty damn lousy. Do we have any control over that at all?

There are some obvious grammatical errors in the intro text, such as having a comma after man. Also, why the quotes around man? I liked the intro music—the Moonlight Sonata sounded too electric, though—but not the music that played when actual TASing was shown. I haven't played most of the games in the video, so I'm not sure just how much it shows off. As some other posters have said, however, I think that a better clip could have been chosen for OoT. I'm pretty sure I know what it was showing (skipping part of Dodongo's Cavern, right?), but I don't think that clip showed enough of the location for someone to get a quick idea of what was going on unless he was already familiar with the glitch.

I never saw OoT tas before, alltought, i understood direcly the bomb give a gaps under link boosting him higher than "normal", doesnt even matter where this happen (for one i didnt knew it was dodongo...), if you have just a little imagination you can understand its a major breaktrought for places requiring to climp ect... Even with no knowledge on the glitch you can get it, its not like theres something complicated, it just raise height, do you need to fully know a game to understand such a basic concept... ? This part did realy entertain me, because, i never saw it before, precisly!

This is cool, though I liked the old one better. It gave a real "wow!" effect as it was synched with the music. This one just felt like it had music as wallpaper. And the fading on the music in the intro was done pretty poorly. But overall, good update! Though, is there any reason we can't make more than one? TAS music video montages would be awesome to make into a running thing...

Maybe for the next one, there should be polls for favourite scenes? I guess it would increase the quality.

I also did not like the use of speed metal... Then again I am not sure my idea would have been much better: The intro from "Horizons" by LTJ Bukem followed by a loop from "Balance" by New Horizons (either original or the version with MC Conrad); atmospheric D+B ftw.

After having so many music suggestions rejected offhand by adelikat due to not being speed metal, I can't help but feel a bit smug that the speed metal is everyone's biggest complaint...

Not me then, it was no brainer to put speed metal imo, goes much better than creepy techno posted above Im not sure what prevent people to do theyr own montage, then adelikat is free to upload some if he like em on the official channel eventually

Nice video. Loved Mars the Bringer of War and SSH there.

IMO both music choices are good (maybe SSH is better because of lack of lyrics), I also think speedmetal is the only viable soundtrack for such type of videos. But the lack of music sync is the biggest downside, it made the video feel less emphasizing than old promotional video. While old "God playing" video had some message in it, the new video is something like a kaleidoscope of random cool stuff + some pathos words at the beginning, they sound unrelated to the whole movie. Still the video is good, but I just liked the old promo video more.
