About the game

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon released by Konami for the Nintendo 64 in 1998 in North America. The story follows Goemon's struggles to prevent the Peach Mountain Shoguns from turning Japan into a fine arts theater. The plot calls for three cinematic musical features and battles between giant robots, like other Goemon games, it's peppered with surrealist humor and anachronisms. This is detail.

About the run

The game walkthrough is very long, in the run I basically followed the original walkthrough. But in the process I used somes tricks which are saved some time.

Tricks:

I used a glitch to enter oedo castle, it saved a little time. However I don't know specifically how it works.
Jumping climb, this is a very useful trick, it makes the hero jump on some cliffy slopes as shortcut. The greatest time savers are that I used it to skip the first impact battle and level 2 weapon.
For some high platforms, attack while jumping will makes it much quicker for the hero to get onto the platforms.
Use Goemon's gold coin and Sasuke's cold kunai while jumping could makes they jump farther.

Questions you may ask:

Why did you collect so many ryoes in oedo castle? -Because I must buy something which is very expensive.
Is it possible to skip Sasuke's cold kunai in festival temple castle? -No, some platforms will not appear if you don't get cold kunai.

Possible improvments:

Some movements are not precise enough especially beginning part, Mitjitsu also noticed this. Honestly I found the longer jump trick when I've done half of the run, so it means I miss use it in the previous part... 10 seconds may be lost, no idea.
Anyway hope you enjoy.

adelikat: The audience likes it and the improvements seem to be minor, thus I will accept.

I used Rice 6.1.4, but if there is a newer version, it might be a good idea to use that instead. I have seen Rice come as an installer before, and in that case you just have to specify the path to the emulator. If it comes as a zip folder, you should extract it to the Plugin folder in your Mupen64 Rerecording v8 folder. It won't overwrite any of your INI's for anything else. You said it is integrated, so it doesn't have a GPU (it uses your CPU instead). However, it may still be capable of running the game at full speed. Oh, btw, I used the DirectX mode in Rice. OpenGL ran just as fast, but apparently my video card doesn't like OpenGL... It caused polygons to disappear when I pressed the fast forward button... However, I think that's just because ATI doesn't quite get OpenGL right, or so I've heard. If Rice doesn't work, have you tried Jabo's video plugin? It doesn't show as much as Rice and Glide64 are capable of, but it runs really fast in comparison.

I tried Jabos and it runned really slow to unbelievably fast...I have not yet learned all of those configuration things ..You know AA,framebuffer etc, cause I tend to forget the changes I madeand Finnish being my language those are kind of hard to translate with my average English skills.(I use notes and usually dont remember for which game certain settings were)..Hmm it might be a mempak on tas input I use?To get boss fights open...I have played this through with my original cartbridge many times, but It has been few years. So Im trying diferent things and so on..Because I really like to TAS over the SDAs 100% 2:47:01 time..Well back to work..

Well installing Rice 6.1.4 was a total failure..First nothing was shown in the beginning, only title music...Then the music stopped and screen was full of black boxes with white on the corners..And I had to remove it from plugins..And took a lot of time to delete it,game me access denied and another kind of fun. When I got it removed I started to play again.Seemed to work fine so I closed rom and my rom list vanished..Only the flags was shown...I tried to click exit on the mupen scroll down panel and it did not exit,so I close the window...But it still was shown running in the taskmanager..There was nothing left to do but to back up my FLA,tas.cdf and MPK files and reinstall...And after that it runned with only familiar lag problems...I do however ran into error that closed mupen three times in the same spot in Ugo`s stone circle, when iI jumped the backside of it..I didnt have level 2 weapons or mermaid magic neither 4th miracle item...Odd?When I got those it didnt close the mupen anymore...Hmmm.But anyway it was educative...I guess there just is no way to play this completely lag free anyway...

Naw, integrated means the GPU is in the chipset instead. No way it is using CPU as a GPU. koippis: I used Glide64 (latest here http://glide64.emuxhaven.net/index.php) to capture. Out of all the plugins I've tried, it was the fastest, but it may have a memory leak. Worth a try, I guess.

Well, that breaks an assumption I have had for a while about integrated graphics cards. I guess it doesn't use your CPU after all, but it uses the RAM instead of dedicated memory. In any case, I bet that integrated GPUs are not nearly as powerful as a dedicated graphics card, but modern integrated graphics are good to some extent.

Well I didnt record that game..But deleting rice dll gave me alot of troubles,as mentioned above..And somehow it deleted Glide Wrapper folder and the are and languaguage settings on the control panel too?I guess that was because only way I could delete that dll,was to restart computer and quickly delete it off my desktop..I noticed this after trying to find cause of application error:Application Failure mupen64-rerecording.exe 0.0.0.0 in unknown 0.0.0.0at offset 0d5f4983.. Google did not find even a single result..offset 0d5f4983 what heck is it anyway?I just have to install mupen again and copy MPK to it..Maybe even innstall video driver again because removed Glide Wrapper was inside folder?I dont know was it from mupen or from my nvidia..Well cant say that I would giveup easily..I hope I got this playing without crashes soon, cause you may have noticed that I havent slept lot...

The offset thing had to do with a bad memory location, I assume, and really doesn't mean anything without a debugger and knowledge of the code. In any case, Mupen just crashed for some reason. If you deleted that DLL while Mupen was running, then maybe that is the problem. I highly doubt that removing Rice would have caused other issues with your graphics card though... Removing Mupen completely, reinstalling it (or unzipping from the archive it came in), and putting Glide64 back into the plugin folder should revert everything back to what it was before. Glide64 needs a wrapper because it was originally written to only work with Voodoo graphics cards. The wrapper makes Glide64 work on all other graphics cards. You shouldn't have to reinstall your video driver.

Dr watson gave me this after mupen crashedl::Class:none ID4097 Description: Application C:\Program Files\mupen64-rerecording-v8\mupen64-rerecording.exe have caused application error Error 02/19/2010 @ 10:39:18.359 Exception at c0000005 address 0D5FC733 (<nosymbols>) And this time also it was when I jumped at the game, maybe I should not check the memory pack mark in TasInput plugin,I use logitech dual action..Or because I copied the MPK file and save states with tas.cdfAfter installing it and tas input plugin?Does the save states contain information also about plugin settings? And MPK should be the memory pack file am I right?

The MPK file is the memory pack. Save states might store information that the plugin had at the time. So savestates that were generated with one video plugin may not work with a different video plugin. I suggest trying to load one of the in-game saves (stored on the memory pack), if you have any.

IMO, Glide64 really should have worked. Maybe you setup it wrong. Okay, I'll zip up my config and post it on media fire and you can see if it works for you. Edit: Here is the files: http://www.mediafire.com/?j5iwlnmtzjd

Thank you for your effort Aktan, but It did not help...Fps drops on movement(jumping, enemies etc)from 30 to as low as 11,with VI dropping to from 60 to 38 and lower..Processor usage climbs between 24 and 53%.Memory usage about 890MB..Antivirus closed, logitech setpoint, for cordless keyboard+mouse closed,Logiteh gaming software closed,Adobe speedlaunch closed, windows update close..Running processes 30,Tried with affinity to either core.no difference...I remember that first time I installedI used Direct64_07me_sp8 and it didn´t lag at all for firs 15 or 20 minutes. But after that it lagged from the beginning too..

I forgot to turn off "Read every frame (slow!)" in the Emulation settings tab in Glide64 settings. Maybe this would help?

Well, the only last suggestion I have is update your GPU drivers. I don't think a GeForce 8600 GT is that slow.

Im pretty sure its not: Display adapter 0 Manuf. API index 0 Display name \\.\DISPLAY1 Name NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT Revision A2 Codename G84 Technology 80 nm Memory size 256 MB Memory type GDDR3 Memory bus width 128 bits PCI device bus 2 (0x2), device 0 (0x0), function 0 (0x0) Vendor ID 0x10DE (0x1019) Model ID 0x0402 (0x1713) Performance Level 3D Applications Core clock 600.0 MHz Shader clock 1350.0 MHz Memory clock 800.0 MHz Cause I can play Mario Golf in pj64 with only small flickering..And Goldeney+Perfect Dark in it wthout any lag(for goldeneye and PD its been about 6 months, but same PC)And Ihave recently released geforce update..In PD in that time I had to do something about the core setting(recomplier and those,I dont even know what they do) and few other plugin...I had guidance then I dont know from where or who...But I do remember that Glide Wonder or whatever it was, maked PD sky look like a weird caleidoscope..Maybe it has something to do with my Nvidia control panel..Theres lot of odd sh*t like PhysX on and stuff..Unfortunatly those are in Finnish and probably made by a google translator..Dammit...

The encode has been updated to be correct in timing and also the video is now anti-aliased.
