In recent times, I've been considering changing my username from Flygon to Flurret, however, I was wondering if the community would be interested in this change. The reasoning for this change is because if the fact that the name Flygon has already been registered on FreeNode, the IRC server that TASVideos IRC channel already runs at, though, I am sure most of you know about the latter. I've ended up hanging around as Flurret because of this. Nach has stated that this change should be trivial if I don't want to get the homepage modified (Which I don't, for simplicities sake really), with only two minor modifications needed, but I still hold the opinions of the TASVideos users in highest regard. So, do you want my name to remain as Flygon? Or be changed to Flurret? I'll also allow the gag option of Kevin Rudd if you so wish.

So why exactly would the community be interested in you changing your name by a couple of letters? Just wondering.

@Bisqwit: I felt like colour coding for no particular reason. @Kyrsimys: Because I am incapable of making a decision on my own unless the situation is in black or white, and even than, it ends up in arguments sometimes if both variables end up with a similar quantitative outcome.

Sorry for attempting to steal your topic, but if we're changing names, can mine be Dada? That's what I use everywhere else now, including on IRC.

Well you being indecisive doesn't really make us any more interested in it. And really, how much more black and white can a situation be? You either change your name or you don't and it doesn't effect anything whatsoever. So I think you should be able to handle it :P

Pro: The new nickname would match your new avatar better... :P Con: All posts which quote you with a "Flygon wrote:" would become disconnected because people would then not know who is being quoted.

I personally prefer Flygon, Flurret sounds a bit weird to me.

I suggest rolling a D6. 1,2 flygon, 3,4 flurret, 5,6 whatever that other name was. But I must say, I don't really care, and I don't think this was a very good topic. :D

When I hear flurret I think of a flurry of turrets. Which sounds kinda awesome. But no, you shouldn't change your name. If you do, you'll end up like showtime and virtualalex (i.e. laughed at)

Personally I prefer having one nick that's the same everywhere (I'm very nearly the only Derakon on the Internet). But people can just learn to deal with you having two nicks.

I prefer flygon. I also prefer well known community members to not change their nicks.

Yeah, please don't be like symbolic pixel go rain. No need to change it just to match irc... you'll still be the loudmouth with a nick starting Fl on both :D

Make sure, if you change your nick, change it more than once, and then start a thread announcing you are leaving. Also, tell mmbossman to shove it, repeatedly.

I vote no. It seems you use Flygon the internet round, so no need to change it to be consistent with IRC. Why not use Flygon Breloom on IRC like you do everywhere else?

Actually, the only places I actually use FlygonBreloom are on YouTube and Dailymotion.

Use it for IRC as well then. What's your general use handle anyway?

Flygon. The only reason FlygonBreloom isn't my handle on IRC is because it is just such a pain in the ass to type, if I wanted to highlight someone, I'd want a phrase with 8 letters at worst, not upwards of 11. That, an FlygonBreloom really is annoying to type consistently.

Get an IRC client that stores names for you?

When you don't make any decisions for yourself, you are denying your status as a person. So take some personal responsibility and choose for yourself what you want to be called on the internet.

Sorry guys, I think I might only find this funny because I'm really tired right now. =( (it's a kind of cheese, similar to brie in consistency) @sgrunt below: No, but "Flurret" reminded me of this delicious treat.
