The Hobbit is a text adventure game for the ZX Spectrum and an adaptation of the novel of the same name. It features an ambitious interactive world with a detailed physics system, a time system, and independent AI-controlled NPCs. This makes for a game that can be played in many different ways and can end in even more different ways thanks to the AI system. However, given the ambitious game design and the limitations of the ZX Spectrum, the game also has numerous bugs and quirks that make it seem more like an insane adaptation of The Hobbit.
In this run, DigitalDuck exploits a bug in the text parser that causes a buffer overflow and corrupts the game into letting them skip most of it and beat it in only 4 seconds of real-time gameplay.
