Thank you. Maybe, why not. Or make AKA a movie of 120 stars ? How is the route ?

FODA's run pretty much nailed the rout I think... Any further run would probably use the same, or one very similar to it.

of course, the lobby glitch will be used much more extensively if someone decides to make an improvement.

True, but I seriously doubt the order of the stars will change in any meaningful way. Even if you did the stars in the lobby a little differently, I dont think there would be much of a difference in time.

Over the course of 120 stars, time will add up.

The lobby glitch makes the lobby area route much easier since most (if not all paths) will return to a common return point via exit stage from the menu. Also the 3 secret stars in the lobby return there as well. It makes the order of the rooms pretty much irrelevant... as long as the glitch is faster.
This signature is much better than its previous version.

it may be faster to exit the level through the door because there may be enough stars already for that.

You have to remember that it takes 9 seconds from activating the star sequence to gaining control afterward and then you have to factor in the time it takes to leave the room and gain control after the door.

this is a bit stupid of me, but i need a little time out of mario. I would play a another game. First I would play MM but Mukki work on it and then the desync problems, which I can not avoid. That should not a attack on you guys. But I have no idea which game I should try out. Any suggestion ? And sorry for the big offtopic.

if you're into N64 games I have a megahuge list (to the point of unnescessary, but it helps) of N64 games in the N64 wishlist. List some games or types of games that you're into, I'm sure I can help you find one. there's also a page of TAS ideas on this site.

Tut tut comicalflop you forgot the links here and here. Take your pick from any and there is plenty there to experiment with.

I'm not sure if this has been found before, and it's quite useless for a speedrun, but it's funny anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuZx2I8HF3g

Due to bad detection on some of the surfaces near the top of the castle, you dont even have to BLJ to get to that room.

and you can get out of it just by walking through the wall by the door.

Yeah, I figured that one out while trying to get to the top of the castle after I got 120 stars in 1996. I didn't know at the time that you could get to the roof with 0 stars. Mario looks pretty funny standing at the top of the tower, inside of the flag. I like the name "Black Room of Death", but it's not really death since you can get out.

It's strange, because even after I go inside the castle and load the textures, BLJing on that slope still brings me to the black room. I'm guessing that opening the front door is what loads the textures, so whenever Mario's outside the castle the inside of the castle cannot be reached.

huh? when you're outside, only the outside is loaded, and when you're inside, only the inside is loaded. so how can you do the BLJ on the slope if you're inside?

I have a question about the current 120 Star TAS. Wasn't FODA going to do an alternate ending in which he left and visited Yoshi? ;3 If not, it's fine. Just wondering. :3

I meant if both sides were loaded I could do the BLJ outside and go straight to the second floor.

the second floor isn't loaded if you are outside, or in the lobby.

I know, it's pretty much useless.

yea, but i was (and still am) too tired of the game, maybe i'll do something later, but probably not. There are bigger chances of making a DVD.

Just out of curiousity, does Mario's stars-out-the-butt triple jump actually help? For the purposes of setting a record on individual levels, are there any that could be done faster after getting 120 stars?

you also dont take fall damage after you triple jump. Not sure that actually helps much of anywhere, but it might.
