Jungle/Desert Strike could make for an interesting speedrun, not sure if the SNES versions are better...

Way too long for my taste, and I've played through all 3 parts (Jungle and Urban on SNES, though). I sure remember SNES versions have strafe function, not sure if it's present in the Genesis versions.

Here is cleanup version 1 for mmbossman's list: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/genlistv1.txt [obsoleted] 1073 titles left. I removed all multi-game cartridges, hacks, prototypes, beta versions, etc. I tried to leave only one version for each game to make it simple, but I did not touch titles that I was unsure of. Feel free to clean the list some more (or add something that is missing), but inform about your intentions to avoid double work. After it's cleaned a bit more, we'll put them into a few categories: 1) games that already have a published movie 2) games that have an unpublished movie 3) auto-scrolling 4) racing 5) sports 6) board games 7) others Right?

You didn't clean the list up all the way. It still lists "Sonic and Knuckles & Sonic 1 (W) [!]" thrice and "Vectorman 2 (U) (Prototype) [!]".

Yeah, it's still a quite a long list, so I have made mistakes. Thanks, I'll fix those you mentioned. --- Edit: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/genlistv2.txt [obsoleted] --- Edit-2:

Well, that's a good and useful list. It shows game genres too. Now we just need to develop our own list that helps tasers specifically. Should our list stay here on the forum, or should we create a new wiki page for it for easier editing?

Both, but I think the wiki should take priority.

I removed some more redundant titles and separated games that have a published TAS. Please check it for mistakes. http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/genlistv3.txt [obsoleted]

"The Humans" a published run? You're pretty confident on that one, aren't you?

Oops... Edit: Well, I'm improving the list a bit more now. --- Edit-2: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/genlistv4.txt [obsoleted] Removed a few more untasable ones and created categories for auto-scrollers, racing and sports games. There are still many titles that I'm not familiar with, mostly Japanese ones. I'm going to leave it be for a moment so that others have a chance to give their input.

Updated the list again: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/genlistv5.txt [obsoleted] It's not quite finished yet. I decided to remove the games that have published movies. They get enough attention already, so there's no reason to re-list them here. Do we need more categories than Autoscroller, Racing, Sports, Others? I think that from TAS perspective, there's no need to make more categories. Well, maybe RPG, because there are many of those. Fighting games could be listed separately, but there are very few of them, so it may be quite useless. The list entries would look something like this:
| Game name | Information |
The list should be as simple as possible, but informative enough for a taser. The information box would include only relevant TAS related stuff: known problems with emulation, desynch issues, existing movies that were not published, etc. The games would be listed alphabetically. If the page feels too long, we create sub-pages or tabs for the categories. I would not like to remove any games from the list even if they seem very bad candidates for tasing, because that might reduce individual creativity. Entries would be removed from the list after they have a published movie. Is this a good direction to go with the Genesis wishlist? --- Edit: I've decided to list fighting and RPG games separately as new categories. --- Edit: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/genlistv6.txt [obsoleted] Fighting games are now listed as their own group. (Beat 'em up games are left with the other games.) There are many different types of games with RPG elements, so I'm not sure how to choose titles for the RPG category. Maybe that category is not necessary at all. I think it's better to give no information than wrong information. There are already too many gaming sites that give wrong or misleading genre descriptions for games. --- Edit: More ideas for categories: Verified Good Candidates Mahjong Games (there are amazing amount of them)

Ok, I think the list is quite finished now: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/genlistv7.txt It would be nice if a few people reviewed the list for incosistensies once more, so that the first version of the wiki page would be as good as possible.

Looks good to me, only one thing I saw. Battle Golfer Yui (J) [c][!] Tried to play through it a little, but not reading Japanese didn't help my cause. It's definitely a golf game though. I think your list is ready.

Thanks. The problem with categorizing this game is that even though the theme is sports, the gameplay is different from most other sports games. I have not played the game much, but there seems to be RPG elements like experience points and adventure mode. My solution would be that instead of putting it into the sports category, leave it in the main list with info box saying: Sports/RPG hybrid.

Good enough for me. I'd say it looks complete now.

Good. Who agrees with mmbossman about the list being complete?

It looks good to me. Can we rig some kind of voting system to the list so people using it know what users want to see TASed? Also, I think we should also mark movies with rejected submissions.

Good work, thanks for the list Aqfaq. My knowledge of the roms is very limited, but it looks more than complete to me, too. I also agree with arkiandruski's proposal, but worry that there are not enough users to get a significant result out of the votes.

Voting is too complicated. I was thinking of simply bold text for games that seem good candidates.

Can I make suggestions, then? Adventures of Batman and Robin (it's a pretty straightforward game, but it's colorful) Aero the Acrobat Alicia Dragoon Beyond Oasis or Crusader of Centy possibly? Gain Ground (though I'm not sure it should be done on hard) Dynamite Headdy's being worked on right now, and it looks like it will be an awesome and easily accepted run. I would have liked to do a run or Puyo Puyo, but that's too close to that Kirby game with falling Puyos Pagemaster was one that I was looking at, but I don't think it should be bolded. Forgotten Worlds is an autoscroller

The first version of the wiki version is there: http://tasvideos.org/Aqfaq.html Thanks a lot to all who reviewed the list in the stage 1! All ideas are still welcome. Let's make the list useful to everyone.

That looks excellent, the tabs make things more intuitive and it's great to see the links to the previously submitted movies.

I would love to see a tas of this game. I too think it will make a great run. Also, I saw Shadow Of The Beast and Mega Bomberman suggested, which I second. And secretly Desert/Jungle Strike, but they don't seem feasable for tasing. Which is a shame. Aqfaq, has your link to the Genesis game list disappeared or am I just looking in the wrong place? I can't seem to find it.
