It's because you have used VirtuaNES. I believe this is stated in the rules page and also what EMU's that are allowed. In other words, use Famtasia or FCEU. Atleast im pretty sure this is the problem. you should read the "Rules page" for more info.

Is it a compressin issue? Try compress it as something else. Like rar or something.

Would it be possible to convert VMV to FMV or FCM?

http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorHomepages.html The versions of each emulator used on this page. In some cases, previous versions don't have rerecording. http://tasvideos.org/UsingEmulatorTools.html A limited resource on how to make the movies: hopefully will improve with time.

ok...one last thing. i just downloaded from the site (totally forgot about that...hahaha) and i when i go to open the ROM, i get some error (Microsoft error message). im at school (and on break, so dont lecture me), and was wondering if it could be a computer (or admin preventing it) or what. i think its the admin, but im not sure. could it be the version of the game (EU) messing it up?

ok...
famtasia510-patched.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. Please tell Microsoft about this problem. We have created an error report that you can send us. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous. To see what data this report contains, click here.
sorry if that comes off a bit TOO obvious. the report is long, but Error signature reads:
AppName: famtasia510-patched.eve AppVer: 5.1.0.0 ModName: famtasia510-patched.exe ModVer: 5.1.0.0 Offset: 00030e3d
i could also delve into the technical information about it, but that'd take some more typing. if this isn't enough info, ill try it once i get home and see what happens. BTW, highness: how to make a run do you have a direct link? sorry, did the search and then looked back at bisqwit. still cant find it. EDIT:
Metal Gear.... ohhhh, I love it :D
yeah... thats why id hope not to have to rerecord it. and i hope people do like it.

Re-recording from start is unfortunately one of the most important factors when making a time attack =/ I know this out of experience ,)

The message below that quote was: The given ZIP file contains wrong number of files. It should only contain 1 valid movie file and nothing else. Do not put TXT files in your ZIP file. Write your submission notes to the submission text area - not into a separate text file. Do not put ROM files in your ZIP file. Do not create subdirectories in your zip file. Obviously you didn't read it, and didn't even click the "valid" word which links to Rules that explains (among other things) that VirtuaNES movies are not accepted.

VirtuaNES movies are not accepted (except on special permission). They are troublesome because of certain restrictions in the movie file format.
i didnt know how to get permission and thought it would come up when i posted. but a no go.

And didn't consider mentioning this when you posted that you are having trouble submitting.

touche`. figured it was more an admin problem and didn't take that into consideration. and i was posting as in clicking the SAVE button on the page, but this is getting off topic. so, bisqwit, you have any advice on the conversion to an acceptable format or a direct link? i'd really like to see what you thought of it. i loved that simon's quest one you did a while ago; the luck manipulation was insane.

Search for a topic regarding VMV to FMV conversion on these forums. It was discussed a couple of months ago.

Are Metal Gear and Simon's Quest similar? Yeah, there was quite a lot of luck manipulation - to always get hearts from monsters, and to have them moving useful paths.

well, both made by konami and theres some retracing of your steps. not to mention not getting unimportant items and avoiding whole parts. luck manipulation is so and so. i was just really impressed with the fact that you beat the game that quickly with the tactics. the others were well done as well, but that game was something i played a lot when i was little. thanks for the conversion as well. EDIT: ok, so i redid it and its in FCEU format. sorry, but my computer must not like Famtasia or im not doing something right because it just errors before i even open the game. anyhow, hope its good enough to be here. thanks for all the help as well. i really didnt wanna switch to a new emulator (VirtuaNES has a place in my heart and always will. its been my favorite emu for a long time.) but im adjusting to FCEU and its odd policy of wanting to resume gameplay even when its not active. ha... prolly just a small thing i could fix in Pref. thanks again from everyone who helped me actually get around this lil Emulator issue.
