Post subject: How do you configure your controller on the N64 emulators?

I have a playstation like controller on my pc, and yeah, it fits almost every old console control scheme, but with the N64 the story is different. I just wanna share ideas about where you put the Z button, etc...because i can't find a good way of putting them!! thanks

I have that same prob. I never know how to set it up tho last time I tried I think I used the R2 or L2 button

yeah, but the biggest problem i've run into is that on every game the controller shceme is different, and for example, the same combination that i could use on mario 64 doesn't work in zelda 64...geez, i better buy an n64 !

Yeah, it depends on the game. If I can get away with mapping the c-buttons to right-analog I will, and Z will either go on L1 (zelda) or R1 (mario). It gets harder when I need all six face buttons, though. To date I can't play a six-button fighter on the PC.

L1 is better because it's higher than L2, so it's more like Z.
Mapping Z to both L1 and L2 is better because you can't fuck up pressing Z in a game, so it's more like an N64.

did you modify your n64 controller so that you had Z where you normally have L? because i can't really see how L1 could be more like Z.

rawr for keyboard warriors ^^ If you're going to use a controller for m64 emulation, I suggest checking out the TAS input plugin which I cannot conveniently link you because I'm lazy. :( I've heard it helps a lot though I'm not one of the people that use it. Sorry. :(

You don't have panache unless you use the keyboard, controller, and TAS Input Plugin all at the same time when TASing. So rawr to that!

Doom 64: I use the mouse to look left and right, click to shoot, scroll wheel to switch weapons, WASD to move around and Q and E to strafe. And it works sooo well too. Feels like a natural PC FPS. Of course, this is only when I'm not TASing.
