Here is 929 frames improvement (15.5 sec) of my previous run. Thanks to some new routes the turbo cape and the starting speed of Aladdin. By jumping at the right frame, i could keep Al's highest speed wich is 552sp/f , on flat ground

Objectives

  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Uses no passwords

Emulator & Settings

  • SNES9x 1.43+ v9
    • WIP1 timing - On
    • Allow Left+Right/Up+Down _ On
    • Volume envelope height reading - Off
    • Fake mute desync workaround - On
    • Sync samples with sound CPU - Off
General Info
Now, me and Randil worked a little on this. Togheter, we found out that Aladdin's speed occilates from 552sp/f to 512sp/f while running . Now in order to keep his speed to 552sp/f i needed to run and jump at the right frame. Thanks to Gocha's memory viewer i could easily keep track of things.

Truncated: Nice work. Accepted.

autoscrolling sections made me think aladdin has been taking athleticism tips from mario. Didn't see any room for improvement watching at full speed, so great job! Voting yes. P.S. That input animation took me three times before I figured it out :/

I'm sure that if you check the old version at full speed, you wont find any place for improvement either :P Stickyman: Thx, i appreciate that.

I can't get a screen shot or capture, but ~3500, when Abu is running around on spikes, I think that a good published-picture would be when Aladdin is injured by those same spikes that god dammed, invincible monkey is running on. Just as Aladdin had taken damage, not when he is eating his own crotch and shoving his ass in a soldier's face. Then again, Aladdin shoving his ass in a guard's face is relatively entertaining... XD

Ive never officially submitted an avi to the site before so I dont know how to go about asking, but can I encode the run? Ive done unofficial avis for wips in the N64 section in addition to other personal projects, and Ive read the encoder guidelines so I know what I am doing, I just dont know who to ask or who to submit it to. Edit: Yes vote definitely

lol! Sorry, but the irony just kind of got to me; I don't have any idea what you would need to do, either, so don't take my laugh as a negative ;D

Just finished watching this TAS and I think it's great! There are a few moments I heard myself saying "that's impossible, Al should be killed that lava already". Thanks for this fun run jaysmad! Voting yes!

I would have gladly put your suggestion but you saved it as a .jpg (why? just use screencapture built into SNES!) either recapture from SNES into a .png (use 1.43v11 or later) or let me know which frame it was.

Hey! I'd like to make an AVI of this but i am not sure witch codec to use, to have best quality. Can you guys help out on this one? I tried some that are included in snes 9x but it will either sound desync or not include every frame or even make the movie in parts so is there one that could do the job???

Try here. H.264 Lossless is about as high quality as you can get :P

Well, the .avi worked for me. I've stuck it into bitTorrent, so it'll be seeding for the next few days whenever my computer's on.

Brilliant! I think this game makes for a good show, but skipping the red gems just makes it feel 'incomplete', not to mention all the acrobatic stunts we miss. I enjoyed your going off-screen in one autoscroller and lingering in the fire in another. Overall though, I felt like too much of the run was identical to how I'd play it (other than the parachuting trick). I expect to be enamoured with your 100%-red-gems one though.

I've only uploaded 10MB, so unless there were also others seeding (and I don't see any peers) you haven't gotten the whole thing from me. I use VLC to play it - a program recommended by Halamantariel. That program seems to play any .avi I throw at it. If it still doesn't work, I might be able to stick it up somewhere for you to dl directly, to check you have the same file.
