of course it is coming along. I've been busy so that is the reason why this is in a break sometimes :E

That's fine. I understand that TASing a game this size would require you to take breaks. I don't watch the WIPs, I'm just waiting for the final product to be published. Then I'll watch it and be surprised as hell with the amazing job you did on it. xD

Well, I have been watching them, and I am just here to chime in and repeat what everyone else has said. This run is looking awesome.

I dunno, this run will be done before 2010. :3 At least, I think so. xD

True, but I doubt that every copy of this run with spontaneously disappear before 2010. Hence it will still be possible to watch it during that year.

By the way guys, My WIP encode repository for this game has been overhauled. All progress (parts 0 through 8 as the previous encodes numbered them) from power-on to the end of Mad Monster Mansion in one convenient file that hopefully is a good mix of filesize and quality. :)

Hey hows it going. I've been watching the TAS run of this for a while and its one of the best I've seen. I hope all is still in progress, Sami. It's been very impressive so far!

We're all looking forward to it :) Apologies for the following long and somewhat off-topic post! My site is pretty obscure and not visually appealing. And the youtube videos don't have everything and are missing sound. So I took the liberty of uploading some to nicovideo. (reasons include but are not limited to: I don't have a 2006 account on youtube and video time limits suck. Scrolling comments greatly add to the enjoyment of the video for some and can optionally be disabled anyway. The video quality is better than youtube's. Other english video sharing sites discourage gaming videos or have other unfriendly limits) Playlist here If you don't have an account or don't know any japanese, that's fine. "hatena diary" can embed any nicovideo link, though unfortunately the uploader comments stay at their first revision. I think the videos are shown in reduced quality too. Oh well. :/ The three parts so far are: 1 - Spiral Mountain, Mumbo's Mountain, Treasure Trove Cove 2 - Clanker's Cavern, Bubble Gloop Swamp 3 - Gobi's Valley, Mad Monster Mansion [including quick visit to Freezeezy Peak] The button with the bird and text bubble toggles comments if they actually detract from your viewing experience.

Sorry if this is kind of obvious, but where do you put the WIPs? I can't find them anywhere...

You should actually use www.vimeo.com. Its a good site unless you frequently post videos because there is a 500 mb a week limit, but other than that there are no restrictions on length or anything. It is much much better quality than youtube and even lets other people download the original video that you posted if they want the full quality version.

Unfortunately it goes against their rules as stated here:

I kind of doubt they'd see a TAS as anything but playing the game. The other hosts I know of that aren't half bad are Viddler (allows downloads of the original with an account) and GameVee (doesn't offer downloads but is quite good quality).

Off topicish: I'm a competitive gamer and the community got pretty upset when Vimeo decided that frag videos weren't "artistic" enough (funny, who decides that). GameVee is an excellent alternative. However, if you want to use Vimeo, just name it something stupid like "butterflys" and it'll be fine, they only check by name. But boycott Vimeo :P

The reason they don't allow gameplay videos anymore is because of the Lets Plays from the somethingawful forum I think: it was good so they were using it a lot but Vimeo found that a lot of processing time was spent on them rather than others. So, instead of making their systems better they put that rule in. At least I think that's how it was... Looking forward to the next level!

So yeah I obviously checked out vimeo. And I had one problem or another with viddler/dailymotion/veoh/yahoovideo/googlevideo/others. So I stuck with something I already had an account for. Also, naming a video "butterfly" to avoid a takedown...? Nah. :) My upload speed is terrible so I'm not reversing my decision, but please feel free to take the flv's or mkv's and upload to a service of your choice if you don't like mine. :P
