Extra Mario Bros is a perfect Super Mario Bros hack by ATA from Japan. It changed a lot, especially Worlds, Enemies, Effects, those make this game even more fun.
IPS Patch(to Super Mario Bros): http://HLMarioHacks.ys168.com/ (it's a English space for downloading)
Because of the old website was broken, so you have to download it from my space. Open the folder of "Extra Mario Bros", you can find "Extra Mario Bros.ips".
There are 5 areas, 8 keys, 5 extra mushrooms in this game, collecting 8 keys is important, there are 2 keys in every area except area-5, you have to get all of them to get in area-5, unless you won't meet the final boss.
Extra mushrooms are not as necessary as 8 keys, but getting those can make the game easier. Those 5 extra mushrooms are: Ultra Fire, Super Fire, Technical Fire, Space Jump, Screw Attack. I only get Space Jump and Super Fire in the movie to save time.
I played hard in this movie. Aims for fastest time, and the entertainment value was great.
The final boss fight is very special, you have to lose time to save time sometimes, I believe I had a good job on fighting the boss. Now the boss is even more powerful.
Hope you like this hack and this movie.

Excellent hack, and you played it superbly, just the last boss fight is a little boring in my opinion, but it's not your fault, voting Yes.

Voting yes. I don't usually enjoy mario hacks, but this one really took the game engine and turned it around into something other than a simple change in levels. Very entertaining, though confusing at times. I did not feel like I was watching a Mario game at all. The music was awesome, but it is a shame that all the jumping made it hard to listen to.

This hack is fun! It's like a marriage of Mega Man, Metroid and Super Mario Bros. The final boss is weird. Pretty entertaining run! Thanks Happy Lee! I am voting Yes.

The constant bunnyhopping was kind of annoying, but not enough to keep me from voting yes. Interesting route you took.

Well then. How can it not be on TASVideos then?

I am not very interested in hacks, but this one is good.

Mega Man? You must be ki... Well, I see, this hack is Tiny Legend of Supersonic Man World: Carnelian (staring McDracula)! EDIT: I missed something.

You have impressed me yet again HappyLee. Being a fan and a bit of a TASer of a few SMB hacks, I found this hack to probably be the most entertaining and interesting hack. Besides that the quality of the TAS was very high, and I was entertained though out all of it. There were many moments where I like "woah..." and that's always a good thing in TASes Yes Vote!

This seems destined for publication due to viewer response. There are 53483892 SMB hacks, and I don't want 53483892 SMB hacks on the site. I'd like to keep the number down as low as possible. What do you guys think about this obsoleting the published air2 hack? This isn't a statement of "I'm going to this". I'm just throwing the idea out there to see what people think.

Sounds reasonable. If this practice were to be codified, it might make more sense to obsolete whichever hack/tier has the lowest ratings... Not sure if that's the case here, but I'm just floating that idea, too.

Perhaps a site rule of only allowing 2-3 hacks per (original) game to be published? New hack submissions would have to make a case for why their hack is better than the already published movies.

I think that would be reasonable once we reach a critical mass of hacks. I don't know what that is, but I don't think it's 2 (this, and Air, unless I missed something). How many more really interesting and different SMB hacks are there?

I don't see why there must be such a limit. Obviously a movie needs to add something significantly new... but as long as it's an original and entertaining movie, I don't see a problem. Edit: This also applies to the whole "this hack is accepted" and "this one isn't"-policy. It's just like all other games actually... if there is a greatly entertaining submission of a hack that has never been discussed before, it will be accepted... if the movie of the hack isn't very entertaining it gets rejected. It's just the same as every other game... maybe a hack has a bigger chance of getting labeled "bad game choice", but that's about it.

I disagree with obsoleting the Air 2 run. I think the question that should be asked when a hack is on the Workbench is "Does this hack have something that the original game / currently published hack does not have?" In this case, I believe the answer is yes. Extra Mario Bros. brings Metroid-style exploration, power-ups, and item collection (the 1-ups) to the game, none of which was done by either Air or Air 2. If the answer is no, that's when the argument of having the new hack obsolete the old one would be valid, IMO. EDIT:

This idea had occurred to me as well, and I think it would also be reasonable.

But the thing is AIR is a terribly made amateurish hack, thats impossible to complete without tool-assistance.

@Mitjitsu: As I recall the description of Genisto's most recent Air 1 movie, it's intended to be more of a puzzle game, and also intended to challenge one's knowledge of what can be done in the SMB engine.

Can someone please tell me why we even have a "hack restriction"? Shouldn't all high quality hacks (I suppose this is where it gets fuzzy) be allowed to have a video?

I think Bisqwit was worried about some hacks not being so available in the future, or not working correctly in the more accurate emulators of the future. That may also be the reason he didn't allow fan translations.
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

Consider that concept gone. I haven't updated any rules yet, but basically the policy is going to be that a hack is treated as viable. Just goes through the same submission process. However, it has to be considered both as its own game, and in context of the game it hacked.

I disagree about having hack restrictions solely for quantity, but I agree with restrict them for the quality provided by them. I believe the ROM-hack rules should be about "how different the hack is from the original game? How does the hack contribute for a new game experience." This way, new levels-only movies should be shot down, and mere pallete-swaps too. But hacks like Super Demo World, with engine modifications, edited enemies, SMB3-esque blocks, not. I mean, I believe someone's going to try Sonic Megamix when (IF) it's finished. And this hack have four or five different characters, with different traits; even Sonic doesn't play like his 2D self.

I feel that Extra Mario Bros is so far from the original game it hacks, it deserves to be a separate game. The mechanics are totally different, the (majority of the) sprites are totally different, about the only similarity (as I see it) is the glitches that are abusable.

As far as I'm concerned, this was pretty much a completely different game. Physics, boss fights, power ups, and even autoscrollers. If no-one told me this wasn't made by Nintendo, I wouldn't know. I would have believed that this was official before smb2j was. Air was just a hack.

Right, as it should be. Thanks!
