It is an improvement of 7 timeunits and 63 frames than Deviance's version.
- FCEUX 2.1.1
- Doesn't "Aims for fastest time"
- Aims for fastest timeunits
- Takes damage to save time
- Manipulates luck
- Genre: Fighting
The only thing that loses timeunits in previous run is jumping, costs 2 frames each time when the player lands, and bosses. So I did make sure that I manipulate enemies so I use less jumps in each levels.
1st floor: Managed to save 3 jumps. Also improved the boss fight by alot. 4 timeunits gained. In-game timer 1552.
2nd floor: Saved 2 jumps. One at the boss. 1 timeunit gained. In-game timer 1558.
3rd floor: Improved the boss fight. 1 timeunit gained. In-game timer 1552.
4th floor: Nothing improved there. There is only 3 jumps and the boss doesn't seem improvable. In-game timer 1545.
5th floor: Saved the equivalent of 2 jumps. Being hold by the enemy costs the same total of frames as jumping. The reason I've done so is because the same enemy goes back and thus doing an extra jump. Also, Deviance did an extra jump to manipulate the boss which wasn't needed for me. Also improved the boss fight by a little. Attacking him then he counterattacks makes the boss go some pixels farther, which doesn't block me as much as in old runs. Also, it looks better. Gained 1 timeunit. In-game timer 1550.
Jumping at end of a floor(level) doesn't cost 2 frames. What matter is that the player hits the left or right side of the level. No matter if you jump or not. Ending the movie earlier doesn't cost 2 frames. In other words, ending the movie earlier that way doesn't make the AVI longer nor shorter. Only the fm2. Also as mentionned, that movie doesn't aim for fastest time but only timeunits. It is possible to finish the game faster by sacrificing some timeunits due to different strategy that involves taking damage and thus, reducing the time of end of level bonus.

adelikat: Accepting for publication as an improvement to the published movie.

Raiscan: Processing.

Wow... Phil, you have amazing technical ability with fine-tuning run optimization. This looks quite nice. I really liked the first boss kill and the end-of-level poses on the first two levels. Minor point: I think I counted 3 jumps in level 4, but the third one doesn't finish before the boss appears. Also, I would love to see an improvement to Super Castlevania 4. Angerfist, weren't you originally working with that run too?
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Good job! I had messed around with this game some time ago, but I couldn't even tie the time on the first level, let alone improve it. Yes vote and such. // plus, I'll ask along with the others, how is the CV4 run going? (If you're still doing the project, that is...)

I wouldn't mind being given an AVI/MKV of this TAS. Care to chuck me one? Edit: Screw that, I just remembered I have the tools to dump it myself, ROM hunting I go!

Yes, well, I'm working on it. It's progressing slowly due to lot of things that takes an eternity to test. It's rather a complex game. The type of game that can't be done flawlessly.

Hi! I am an indecisive publisher. I took a few screenshots of this movie and placed them here. Here goes! Feel free to pick from the list.

I'd say third, then first, then second is my ranking. (Also: <3 for TASVideoAgent's "Hi! I am a bot" reference)
