No they wouldn't as you don't know if it means best TASer for system X or best TAS for system X.

The originally proposed ideas in this thread don't really show whether it's for a TAS or a TASer either - Mario representing both.

I suggest you reread what was requested. Also it's not a proposal, it is a final decision.

Arukado was awesome and fixed up Sgrunt's images some A few I did not decide to use. And we still need a few. But this is a great start. What we still need: TAS for system X - Bisqwit's helmet in smaller size TAS of the year - Bisqwit's helmet - larger pedestal innovative TAS - Dr. Mario

Will these be awarded to prior years winners, or will this be for this year (and forward) only?

Glitch TAS: Mario in gold, with his sprite cut in two with the feet on top of the head. Funny TAS: Mario in frog suit covered in gold. Innovate TAS: Dr. Mario in gold. Rookie of the year: Baby Mario on Yoshi in gold. Best TASer for system X: Caped Mario in gold. Best overall TASer: Caped Mario on Yoshi, on a larger pedestal.
Re-reading the original post, I don't see anything that contradicts my observation that Mario represents both TASers and TASs. If you just wanted me to re-read the part about not wanting creative input then fair enough. I'll stay away. edit: OKay, upon looking at adelikat's link, I understand what you mean now. That there are 2 families of icons required.

Do you plan on showing the Award somewhere ? like below the avatar of the player ? Or is it just for fun ?

Indeed I hope to get something like that implemented.

Sorry for my kind of superfluous criticism, but I think the glitchy Mario trophy could look a bit glitchier.

I believe the awards for TASes should go on the publications, definitely not on the players' forum panes. Awards for TASers is another story.

I think they should go on both. And a player can rack up a whole slew of awards under their title. You know how other forums have ratings for how long a person has been a member?, or how many posts they have?, or karma? That's all rather silly. Lets award actual hard work for the betterment of our site, with actual achievements that are objective and quantifiable.

If that is implemented, should the award icon include the year when the award was given? (That way if the same person gets the same award again, it can be distinguished.)

Yes of course. (Well perhaps not embedded in the image itself)

We can just glitch Mario's sprite with contineous ASCII characters like "EFGH".

What about system logos or consoles for TASes and controllers for TASers, since controllers are what players actually use http://www.ix.sakura.ne.jp/~yoshi/icon/game/all.gif

"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

But do the NES/GB/MS/GG have logos of their own? If not, a 'logo' could be engineered that's just the letters

We had already a few icons around to make tests, anyway thanks for that pic (2 post above), i was missing a few from that set somehow :p I think adelikat didnt posted those yet, because, hes on the process to implement awards, so far the ones he got are enought to start dealing with the site code, and from what i could understand on how it will work, voting for pics become somewhat secondary right now, it shouldnt be a problem to add more or change somes latter, i assume once he got something working and stable, he will do another round for choosing exactly what pics to display Note that anyway im not a graphist and i just have limited skills with photoshop, so i dont except them to forcably stay in there, the idea was just to quickly provide a set so they can move on the code, a "expert" should be able to do better on resolution and quality of the trophies

We still lack a Frame Warrior trophy.

So you basically want to make a trophy dedicated to HappyLee?
