original vs. this
looks nice indeed, but takes a lot more horizontal space. compare! I already removed the obsoletion info and it still doesn't fit right.

As of a few moments ago, the opening blurb is gone; if a user is not logged in a message directing them to the "Welcome To TASVideos" page

Yeah, using that exact font too... :P
I was actually serious with my suggestion.

The repetition of "by" and "in" looks bad; I'd rather there be headings prior to the publications list. (Can you remove the old list to see how just the new list would look?) Other than that, I do like this format for the movie list.

No, that's technically not possible. You can however make a simple screenshot and remove that area yourself. :p I added a third option, with headers as suggested. The format column "(fm2,mp4)" was killed, too. I dropped the game-suffix "(USA v1.0)" as well (IIRC not supported by the database, but a simple preg_replace('/ \(.*\)$/', '', $gamename); should do the trick). /edit: right-aligned the time column while I'm at it.

Hmm, the front page has lots of numbers: dates, movie#, times... Maybe the movie numbers could be removed from the front page? Those four digits in brackets have nothing to do with the actual content and have no meaning to a random visitor. Basically, the movie numbers are just site maintenance related stuff, so the front page could go without them and look cleaner that way. It would be: date - game - time - author

Here's my suggestion for the front page. The bottom two sections are not necessary. Newbie links section should probably have links to Why&How, recommended movies and some other because-you're-a-new-user-you-should-probably-read-these-pages.
I'm quite impressed about your suggestion :)

It takes only as much space as the longest entry in the section
