As always, I have provided a release package on my sourceforge project. It includes the movie file, submission text, lua script, and spreadsheet
Also note that this TAS uses the Oct 1991 version of this game. It will not sync on the July 1991 version.
This is a 1 minute 42 second (6139 frame) improvement over the published movie. This TAS is basically a "one hit wonder" type TAS in that it demonstrates me plowing through most of the fights using a "glitch". The glitch works on every opponent other than yourself (matches 3, 6, 9, and 12) though it works slightly differently depending on the opponent.

The Glitch

Well, really it is two glitches. The first one is the unintentional ability to rapid fire attacks. If you do a cartwheel and attack at the same time it registers an attack, if you immediately do another cartwheel, you can attack again. The result is that you can rapid fire A + Left/Right to freeze in place and unleash damage quickly.
However, this is rather slow under normal circumstances since it sends the opponent to the ground quickly. That's where glitch #2 comes into play. If you do a special move (A+B+C) to catch an opponent in mid-air as they are falling to the ground you can freeze them in place for a few seconds. A few seconds is plenty of time to rapid fire them to death. The precise circumstances for the freeze is tricky. For most opponents it can be done from popping them high in the air from a fast elbow attack. It is fairly random as to when the opponent goes in the air in the right way. Larger opponents can't be popped into the air, but they have their own falling animations that the freezing glitch can be performed during.

Thanks

DarkKobold Hey! I'll claim this for judging!
DarkKobold While there were some questions of entertainment lost with the new glitch, I just can't see them. The previous run mainly stuck to some form of scissor kick, repetitively. Also, the majority of the audience approves of this improvement. Rejecting due to massive bias against author. Accepting as a sizable improvement to the published movie.
Flygon: I'll publish this when I'm not sleeping with the Mind Worms.

I chuck my Yes vote for getting this terrible game out of the way as fast as possible.

Very disappointed with the freezing glitch. Sucked all the fun out of it. :\

I was trying to imply that it was my thoughts on the movie. Lol, sorry if I wrote wrong. I am sorry for confusion! I could fix if you want...

I think this YouTube Comment sums it up: LIGHTSPEED ELBOWS TO THE NADS D:

Entertaining Movie overall, not long enough to get boring, so it's a yes I guess.

In the Youtube at least, it doesn't look like rapid fire, but just elbow sticking out! Hilarious, watching your twin fall down, get uAH BONKED AGAINST THE ELBOW fall over So I was entertained for five minutes, good!

I really think the screenshot should be of that level transition screen with the leather-bound S&M dude. Just because. As for the run, it was a bit repetitive because of the glitch, but it's not like pit-fighter had a ton of variety to begin with. And at least there were elbows to the crotch.

There were 3 reasons why I didn't improve the Pit Fighter TAS: 1 - I couldn't reproduce the glitch 2 - It would look more mechanical 3 - I wanted to do 2 players So I don't remember the circunstances, but somehow on IRC I showed the trick to adelikat and he got interested. It took quite a while huh! Years!! I'm glad you made the video, only a bit disappointed that it isn't 2 players. I'm also impressed how much time was saved on an already short TAS. Some of the strategies leave you wondering if it could be any faster, which could sparkle interest on the game. I'm not sure what to vote, because it does look very mechanical, but it's such a huge improvement.

Ah Pit Fighter. Proof positive that the shorter the character's name, the better you are at fighting. First of all I am confused. Why does Pit have no wings, or any of the items he used to beat Medusa? For that matter, the setting going from a side-scrolling Metroidesque platformer to a beat-em-up is a very unusual move. And you don't even see the Eggplant Wizard. No vote. Seriously, nice improvement, yes vote

And so, after placing his elbow on every fighter's stomach and siphoning all of their souls, Ty became the new champion. None would ever be able to dethrone Ty for he could just simply place his elbow on any challenger and siphon the life force out of all who dared to challenge him. On a side note, yes.

I voted meh, and I agree with moozooh. It's an interesting glitch, but I liked the previous movie because there was variety and lightning-fast combos, flinging the opponent all over the place. Using this glitch removes all of that. Perhaps there could be a 2-player play-around as well as a speed run...

While this was utterly hilarious, I don't think it held as much entertainment as FODA's current movie, for the reasons moozooh and nitrogenesis have stated. Meh vote.

Nice improvement to the published run but you killed the entertainment the published run has. Voted meh.

I am quite amused by the glitch. It is a shame that the fights have less variety now. However, as mmbossman said, I don't really feel like there was a whole lot of variety in the original movie either though. Sure, there were combos in that movie, but for the most part it looked like everyone was beaten the same way there. This particular run has its own entertainment too, as well. I think it's pretty funny to see someone stuck on an elbow losing their health rapidly. It's awesome how you essentially teabag your twin for the last two hits of each of those rounds. The two chainman fight is still quite well done. The after-fight entertainment poses are generally as good or better than the published run. Hence, I'm voting Yes. I'd also be curious to see what a 2p playaround could do with this game, especially if the two players can hit each other.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
