You will need to use this LUA script to do that. Download the file, go File -> Lua scripting -> new lua script window. then find the file and click run. Displaying numbers on screen or not is a personal choice, and it's not better one way or the other. A lot of TASers prefer having memory adresses and other information on screen, because then you can have information like hitboxes and other data shown on the screen where you need it most, but some of them (like me) prefer to have the numbers on a separate window, because then the text doesn't get in the way of the video. Sometimes it's better to chose one, and then swap to the other when necassary.

What script are you using to make this comparison? The output looks a lot like that of my comparison script, but that only produces a ghost for mario, not for everything else on the screen too, which seems to be the case here. Anyway, assuming this works like my script, the number at the top shows the number of frames the ghost had to be shifted earlier in order to match up with the current run at the start of the current room. So this would be 0 if they are dead-even, positive if you are ahead of the ghost, and negative if you are behind the ghost. A simple consistency test would be to dump a ghost for your current run too, and use that as a ghost. This ghost should then always be exactly on top of the current run, and the number on top should show 0. If this is not the case, then the script has a timing problem.

So, in the video, I started the script one frame too late, or so...because of that, you must subtract all the frames by one... A little question, how do I do the "no room sync" like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZtEqONzuwk
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

Well, you still haven't told me which script you're using, but assuming it is mine, then there is a configuration section at the top of smwplayer.lua. The set the variable offset_mode to "none" instead of "room" to disable the room resync. Note that as a side effect, this will disable the calculation of the numbers at the top of the screen, since these are calculated each time the runs are synced.

Hello everyone. A lot more progress has been done on the Glitchfest. We don't want to show too much before the final release, but here is World 2. I hope you all enjoy. Suggestions for future levels are welcome, and even past levels. I am fine with hexing. I can give level commentary if anybody wishes to request it.

Um... DAYUM?! That movie could be 3hrs long and at the rate it's going, it'd STILL be entertaining and WTF-Inducing! I think it'd be awesome if you were able to take a P-Switch into the Switch room and toss it just high enough that when you hit the switch, the P-Switch is over top of the OTHER Color Switch, so it looks like the game is declaring all the boxes are going to be replaced by that P-Switch. Outside of that? Wow... just.. wow... Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Hey guys, I have been working on world 3 of spw3, and want some input on how it looks. I am done with the tas itself, but dont want to upload it to youtube until I am happy with all the levels, which right now, I am not. Here is the tas: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/452329486/Super%20Puzzle%20World%203%20V1.6%20world%203.smv Now I have a few questions of areas that I would like to improve, though feel free to point out other areas to me as well. First off level 1. I hate how it came out. First question would be, is it possible to get on yoshi from the other side? I tried for a while but couldn't get it. Secondly, a better break I thought of was using the block factory glitch on the item block, however, whenever I would try, the goomba would go right through the block. If it is possible, I would be able to not only get on yoshi faster, but I also would be able to p switch jump to the springboard instead of use the directional coins. Next in level 2. I was very pleased with everything until the end. Is it possible to do the key jumps without losing speed? In level 3 my biggest issue was the vines. Since the screen boundaries dont let you move that high off screen, I was really not sure how to optimize my climbing. Could I have done it faster? Now for level 4. This has always been my least favorite level in the hack however I loved my break. Though the one thing that annoyed me was the 8th duplication, I think thats the one, where I duplicated up then to the side instead of on an angle in the first place. However, every time I tried, I couldnt get it to go on an angle unless I was falling which meant I had to bounce on the note block an extra time before I could pick up the p switch. Now for the castle. The two issues I have with this level are my screen scrolling, could they be done faster? And the boss... I am really not sure how to optimize it... Thanks for all your help!

It's possible to get on yoshi from the left; yoshi sometimes hops higher than usual, so you have to get on yoshi at the right timing. I couldn't get the block factory to work with the goomba. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/52069123/spw3-3-1-idea1.smv http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/948808231/spw3-3-1-idea2.smv The second idea looks fine but is much slower, unless we find a better way. In level 2, you can fly in the ceiling (after breaking the ceiling) so you can get the key from the above. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1172694921/spw3-3-2-idea.smv Sorry, I'm losing motivation for tas'ing and the investigation progress is very slow. I'll test the rest of world 3 later, maybe not soon.

It seems the powerup incrementing glitch Nathan and I discovered has been put to terrific use by a Japanese taser, and has saved a lot of time over the current effort of the any%. I will post here so people can see the WIP. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12551241 I am very happy this glitch has an extremely practical use! I knew it could be used to get a cape, but I didnt think it'd be possible to do on the move like that. I cannot wait for the completion of this run.

Actually, according to the uploader's comments (the ones in aqua) it is still 74 frames behind even accounting for the time difference after Donut Plains 1, so it's not saving time over current any%. A shame, though that was impressively done.

Ah :) I can not read Japanese, I figured the numbers during the video were how many frames saved. Thankyou very much.

I'd like to see that strategy in a 96-exit run; 74 frames is a pretty small tradeoff for half of World 1 looking new and different. I'd argue that it would work in the any% too, but I suspect I'd lose that argument because the any% is so much shorter, the difference would be that much more noticeable.

How big an improvement to the any% should this give? It seems like you get the cape at almost no cost, and you get it 3 stages earlier than normal, after all.
