The emulators on the Emulator Resources page are the ones with rerecording implemented. They tend to contain the most functionality. http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources.html The currently fastest run of Super Mario Bros would be listed on the Movies page. http://tasvideos.org/Movies.html NES Super Mario Bros (JPN/USA PRG0) in 04:57.31 by Lee (HappyLee). Please do not submit anything slower than this in the any% category. Feel free to post any progress here for feedback. Please look around the site a bit before asking such obvious questions next time.

Like ZSNES don't have, this one Im not sure if does. One more thing, I loo

He's not trying to be insulting, he's trying to save you the aggravation of submitting a SMB TAS that's not as good as the published one and it being summarily rejected.

It's ok, the important thing now is that you start working on something and post WIPs / discuss ideas. Also, why do you need the emulator source code?

Runs abusing emulator bugs are generally frowned upon. And if you're looking for a bug in the game you're TASing you don't need the emulator's source code, just the emulator itself. I suggest you read http://tasvideos.org/TASHowTo.html and perhaps even the other pages you can find under "Movie Making" over at http://tasvideos.org/ArticleIndex.html.

You can do the flagpole glitch at walking speed on the (E) ROM. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1991435605/smb-e%20walk.fm2 I don't feel like completing this, so I'm leaving this here.

SMB Warpless TASv4 world 5 is finished, WIP4 is available. And also, a failed but meaningful thought of manipulating Lakitu to go thought the ground: http://tieba.baidu.com/%B3%AC%C2%EA%D2%BB%B4%FA/shipin/play/ebb9ff20b8f7be20bb2a4729/
Recent projects: SMB warpless TAS (2018), SMB warpless walkathon (2019), SMB something never done before (2019), Extra Mario Bros. (best ending) (2020).

Can anyone tell me how to do the 1 UP trick? I tried but keep getting killed by the very shell I used.

If you get killed by the shell you used, you're too far away from the shell to land on it. Move closer to the shell, so you still land on it, but not too close because then the shell would get away.

How close should I be? Should I be right near the shell or a step below it?

Stand as far to the right as possible on one step (hug the staircase). Right when the koopa is falling off the step two steps above the one you're standing on, jump to the maximum height (4 blocks), and land. That's the exact timing that I use to pull it off.

Excuse the shoddy ASCII art, but right at this point, when the koopa is falling off the indicated step, press and hold the jump button to the maximum height.

1. You can get way more coins from that multi-block. You were jumping again too quickly. 2. If you kick the Koopa forward, you can score about 13,000 points from it taking out the Goombas.
