I think any Castlevania game that has a 100% Completion possible, should definitely get a 100% TAS. The CoTM run should have gotten published regardless of whether or not you get anything for 100% completion. There are a lot of games where 100% completion doesn't give you anything but that doesn't stop people from voting yes on the 100% Metroid runs. And all you get for those is a different ending screen. Nothing spectacular. The only problem seems to be that people are biased against 100% runs outside of a specific series of games. It's really no wonder we don't have 100% runs of games that should have them, like the Zelda Series. The Zelda series should have several 100% runs by now, but no one even attempts them, probably because they fear they will get no voted right off the bat. I would love to see them for all of the Zelda games, regardless of length. A 100% run of games shouldn't have to be glitched all to hell either though. Boy, I sure rambled didn't I? Anyway, voting yes.

Oh, man. I am definitely looking forward to seeing this. Nothing like a little vampire hunter feng shui. It really makes me wonder how Symphony of the Night would have turned out had they ended up implementing the whole "Alucard's Room" thing.

To me, there is definitely something unique about the gameplay of this movie relative to the other published runs for HoD, and it looks great overall, like most Metroidvanias. In other words, an easy "Yes" vote.

A few questions:
  • You're using a glitch to damage enemies more often than you should. How does it work? Is it similar to the glitch in Portrait of Ruin, where you overflow the "Last hit by"-list?
  • Near the beginning, you're spending some time killing stuff. Some of it can be attributed to the need for hearts, but some enemies are killed without gaining any hearts, and some hearts are wasted killing enemies that do not need to die. Do you actually need the exp? Why?
  • Do you actually enter dracula's room for a couple of frames in the middle of the run? It looked like you did, but the emulator didn't allow me to rewind to check.
  • I really think you should have taken the time to visit your furniture room, take a seat in that comfortable chair, sip a tea, contemplate whether to save the world and destroy your furniture, or the other way around.. That was the point of collecting all the furniture, wasn't it? The minor change in the ending is skipped through, anyway.
  • Can someone remind me please? How many castles are there exactly? I keep forgetting. :p

Which would make for 2 castles, no? Anyways, I was not talking about the storyline; I mean purely the gameplay elements. Castle A has different room design and enemies throughout than in Castle B, so they might as well be two different ones.

So what do you think about this movie compared with [1765] GBA Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance "in bounds" by sksk1990 in 28:27.17? To me, "less glitch" is more arbitary than "100% of something", but "all bosses" (note: it wasn't technically all of them as Maxim in Castle A was skipped, but the maximum amount possible in the route was reached) isn't.

GoddessMaria, thanks for your effort. However, GBA has an aspect ratio of 3:2 (240×160 screen size with square pixels) and your video does not use this aspect ratio. I realize your video is only meant to be a quick encode for people to watch the TAS before voting so extreme quality wasn't your first priority, but I thought you'd like to have this feedback. By the way, I love your Urd encoder logo. I guess you got your nick from Ah! Megami-sama. :) I'll refrain from voting since I don't have time to watch this TAS right now.

After watching this fine run I'm in awe that people can't take into consideration the great amount of work that was put into this run, and would rather start a debate over the objective being somewhat arbitrary. For example, this run of super mario bros 2. being done without the use of warps, is effectively what this is. However this Castlevania run comes with an added feature - an objective to make the run more entertaining. And in my opinion it worked. So while there will be some who feel like "Oh no, we can't submit this because it's oh so arbitrary", that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion. However, I feel it'd be a far more negative action to reject this based on such grounds because sksk1990 is clearly a very good TASer, if we were to reject such fine work, why would he even bother considering to do another one? And to reiterate Kitsune's point of view, as I share the exact same view,

In my honest opinion, this is a better goal than the "in bounds" movie because unlike that movie, this one actually followed its objectives. Theres also the bonus this movie has as actually getting 100% of a certain item. As such, This gets my Yes vote. However, Any future 100% run that collects more than all the furniture should obsolete this run due to the goals being less arbitrary.
