Hi. Those games may not have enough TAS value, but I wonder if they can have some. The latter seems to have a bit more of it, althrough. Problems, dunno if Java (or .NET for Terraria) games can be done, and even if 'emulators' exist, they will be sluggish for various years. (NOTE: While Minecraft, being a Java game, isn't OS-dependant, Terraria is. That's why I used this forum) (MOD EDIT: Terraria posts have been moved to a separate topic. --Mothrayas)

I haven't played Terraria, but what would be the goal of a Minecraft TAS? I don't know if the game has an end.

Pick an arbitrary difficult goal like constructing X useful redstone device or an awesome house and construct it as fast as possible: -Starting from nothing. -Starting on a map with the resources but nothing constructed. Or you could complete the Aether mod as fast as possible. Or you could complete a 'survival' map's challenges as fast as possible.

One possible goal for Minecraft I think might work would be "fastest glowstone", with the goal being simple as that. Build a Portal the nether, get glowstone, and assemble and place it in the normal world. Depending on map generation, that might be over very quickly though.

I always thought a good minecraft challenge would be to play without crafting. Or if that's too difficult, just without any pickaxes.

Minecraft has no end, but... In 20 days, they're going to release new minecraft update... then probly best "goal" in it is to kill Enderdragon in "The End" realm (I think that's what it's called ATM).

For Minecraft, try one of Vechs' Super Hostile series, where the goal is to Complete a wool monument.

A Minecraft TAS could have the goal to get a complete diamond armor. Manipulating diamond on the highest layer possible in a large cave, where you don't have to dig very much. Yeah, getting an optimal level would be the most important thing. I could absolutely see this as an interesting run. Other goals could be "fastest nether" or "fastest dungeon clearing"

You could use some of the mapper/map viewer tools here to find a seed in which you can reach diamond very quickly. Spawning next to a giant underground ravine or something along those likes.

Those programs make it a lot easier to find diamonds though, so it allows you find a good seed more quickly. In all likeliness, 95% of work in an actual TAS would just be finding the proper seed (with a good nether too, to boot) It's nothing unusual, there was this game where all luck manipulation I could do was limited to the title screen, and the latest Pokémon Ruby TAS also spent a lot of time just finding the best seed, I think.

I like these ideas, although I still think a complete diamond armor would be more interesting than finding a single diamond, as it requires more strategy. A dungeon near the surface or a cave that goes straight down to the diamond layer would be really helpful. This would reduce the need for mining to a minimum. How about an "all craftings" -run?

As of the latest Minecraft update, it now officially has an ending. In the end dimension when you kill the final boss -- the ender dragon -- the credits roll. So now Minecraft itself is runnable.

so I'm guessing each end portal block has like a 1-10 chance of spawning with an eye already in it. If you can manipulate it to spawn full of eyes then you may be able to be the game very quickly by collecting snowballs running to a close portal and snowballing the enderdragon to death.

If I recall, block generation (including Ender Portal Frames) is completely dependent on the world seed. There are three strongholds in a certain range from origin, each striking a 120º angle (as in an equilateral triangle) from each other. You'd need a script that attempts a seed, finds blocks with the id of an Ender Portal Frame with eye, and makes sure that there are 12 of them right next to each other.

Hey all ! i'm new on the forum and excuse me for my bad english, i'm french. You know, maybe we can create a tool assisted speedrun . A french guy (MrElvilia) making a special map for Speedrun. Objective : kill the enderdragon. MrElvilia put many chest with stuff or not. We can found also secret passages to find enchanted stuff for example.
