I was playing Super Mario Sunshine, and somehow, it averages 25% speed. Any tips on how to make it faster?
So yea, how's it going? Currently TASing: Nothing

Its a freakin modern console emulator, it is only going to run fast on top tier computers.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

It's the only solution. Any settings that will allow you to get a significant improvement in fps will not work while tasing. You can use the latest build posted in the dolphin thread (3.0-479), which is a bit faster than older revisions, but otherwise the only real solution is to get a faster computer.

Like adelikat said, it's emulating the powerful GameCube and Wii consoles. Your computer will need a lot of processing power (a faster prcoessor) to carry out all of the calculations the game sends it. According to the Dolphin Compatibility List, a lot of testers who use an Intel Core-i7 processor report 100% on most games, so I would recommend that processor if you're considering upgrading to a new computer and you want to TAS (or even run) games at full speed.

Do note however that many games cannot possibly be ran at full speed while tasing, on any consumer cpu.

Of course, just not Super Mario Sunshine, the game he wants to run at full speed.

But the internet assured me that the GameCube and Wii are terrible and weak consoles! I don't know who to believe anymore! I just want to fit in!

... Any current-generation home console game will run slowly on a computer without a powerful processor. I have no idea if that's true about the GameCube and Wii, but it's the same problem with emulating those consoles at full speed as it would be with the PS2/PS3 and Xbox/Xbox 360.

Keep in mind that while emulating, you're not just mimicking the target hardware's cpu; you are mimicking the entire hardware, from cpu to gpu, to memory to whatever other things they've managed to put in there! Plus interpreting instructions is generally much slower than having the hardware executing them, especially so on modern cpus which are beasts when it comes to keeping themselves stuffed with instructions to execute.

Don't forget to run dolphin within a virtual machine. ;)

It would make a good April Fool's Day submission. (And now that I said that, someone will probably do it.)

Hmm, it'd require using the wiimote to enter homebrew channel, which would make this difficult. I wonder if dolphin can run dosbox via smashstack... edit: can't get keyboard to work in dosbox, and even if it did, i can't imagine it would be recorded, so this is a bust.

Not needed. Dolphin can run homebrew .dol files directly. Can't wait for the Ballion submission.

Oh, I see what you're saying now. I'm not actually sure if Dolphin can emulate the StackSmash overflow. Would be interesting if it did.

Just tried it, it doesn't work :( How unfortunate, using smash stack to crash the game, then run an emulator to run an emulator running another emulator inside dolphin would have made a cool april fools day submission.

You may get to try that submission after all. The Twilight Hack still works, but it looks like there's an issue with the Wiimote disconnecting while loading it. Not sure if that's just a bug on my end or something else, but it does load up .elf homebrew files.

Wiimote recording is shit, and too much of a hassle :( Might give it a shot though.
